Future V6 Tsx Performance Option

I've heard that the TSX will soon offer a V6 performance option. If this is true that would lead me to believe that the stories about the TL introducing a Type S model again are true.

My understanding is honda doesn't hav an engine that will fit. It will also screw up the weight and balance. This talk has been going on since the the car was released

I remembered watching motortrend or one of those car magazine on tv and they stated that next yr (04) Acura would offer a v6 performance option to the TSX. This would be an awesome TSX, I hope this is true.

You do realize the TSX/Accord Euro R is based of the same platform as the USDM Accord ....saying their is no engine for it ...

Is saying that the USDM Accord doesnt have a V6 ....:p

But i certainly hope the TSX doesnt see a V6 ....it would be a total waste of a great chassis ...

Here's a thought for this thread... I may be wrong, but did Honda built a 2.7 V6 for the Honda Accord for year 94-97? I'm thinking they can use that V6 engine and do their upgrades on that engine... That might fit on the TSX chasis...

They did a 2.7 liter V6 a very long time ago. Back when the Acura Legend was intruduced in 1988 or 1989 .

The Accord didnt see a V6 untill about 94 , but it was a 3.0 borrowed from the Acura 3.0 CL ......

The 2.7 was a great downfall of Honda engineering, as it didnt make much power. It was quickly ended.

The 3.0 much like the newer versions carried over in modern Accords .....WILL fit a TSX chassis.

The TSX is an Accord chassis ......but i dont think the TSX needs a V6 .....

Just needs more HP ....and an LSD ...

actually, the first accord v6 in '95 WAS the old 2.7 liter legend motor. the 3.0 didn't get put in until the '98 redesign.

the first Legends had a 2.5L V6 (my dad had one...it wasn't that bad really, still very peppy and reliable at 220,000 miles when we sold the car)
they upped that to a 2.7L in 87 or 88

that 2.7L was offered in Accord 4-doors starting in 1995
the 3.0L became available in the 1998 Accords

i doubt they would bring back the 2.7L unless there was a thorough rework...it needs VTEC

I want to see proof that the American Accord has the same Chasis as the TSX/ euro accord. I have reasons to believe that the TSX has a smaller chasis than the USDM accord.

It's not the same chasis. The TSX was built on the european accord platform which is different than the american accord.

BTW they made it stiffer than th eeuropean accord chasis as well.

The TSX is in fact the European Accord plus minor cosmetic changes. That's why it's the only Acura that has the outside side mirror signal lights.

The '95-'97 Accord V6 was a 170 hp version of the C27 engine, the same engine from the '88-'90 Legend.

The '97 CL V6 was the J30, later added to the '98+ Accords.

From a sales standpoint, why would Acura take the TSX and introduce a 6 cylinder engine into it? The TL is THE 6 cylinder car. The TSX is a 4 cylinder car for one reason -- to fill a gap (more specifically a price point) between the RSX and the TL.

If that were the case, then why would I purchase a TL with a 6 or a TSX with a 6? In general terms -- what would be the difference?

I had a hand-me-down '88 Legend V6, and let me tell you, my TSX's I4 hits noticeably harder.
