Front grill painting? NEED HELP

I was quoted $500 today to have my front grill and the small trim piece on the trunk painted redondo red to match the car.

Does that sound right to you?

I was thinking it would be around $200 max, what did you guys pay?

total rip-off, shouldn't pay more than $150 if you ask me

unless they're charging you for the labor to remove it, which at $500 is still pretty high

I was qouted $135 to paint the whole grille but opted to do just the surrounds for $85. I was doing other bodywork and the bumper was off so it was discounted. A lot of shops don't want to be irritated with these small jobs and will try to charge you full 2-3 hrs. labor.

See if you can pull the pieces yourself. Might take you an hour or 2 but could save you a few bucks, its easier to take out than you think. Otherwise you'll be paying double, an easy $400 in total. It's really not more than a $200 job.

RIP OFF!! I was quoted $30 to have the rear trim painted NBP. If I wanted to have the entire front grille painted it would be about extra $75

When you painted your grill did you use mat black or glossy finish?

i paid 150 to get it painted NBP (with the blue sparkles). It was obviously a hook up. I wouldn't recommend doing a DIY unless you have extensive experience with painting. ood luck.

Just remeber you get what you pay for, grill's have to be preped very very particular to make sure the primer and paint sticks. Hopefully people who paid next to nothing don't have the paint coming off in a few years, that would suck. GOLDEN RULE get a lot of estimates don't go with the highest or the lowest and I would get a written warranty. Its hard for me to say what the market is like where you live but there are times shops just write high estimates because they are real busy and don't want small jobs.

Had my front grill color matched to my car when it was having body work done. Looks great, but i find that the paint is easily damaged by rock chips in this area. I have touched them up myself a couple of times, but it is a losing battle.

How much would you charge to paint and prep the front grill and rear strip above the license plate?

I will talk to my painter, for me it is easier and cheaper you to pay him directly instead of running it through the shop. I will PM you tomorrow
