When you buy a new bumper from the dealer does it come painted?

I had a minor accident last night and need to replace the bumper. I was just going to order what I needed online and fix it myself unless I need it painted then I'll have to take the car to the bodyshop.

Not a big deal really b/c I can clear my headlights and have them color matched at the same time.

It's been a really shitty day.

it usually doesnt come painted, which is good because they paint would most likely be off by a shade, get it painted and blended. what kind of damage did you take? is it cracks? because if its scratches you may be able to buff it out.

 

99% of all car parts are never painted, especially bumpers.

Just think, it's a nightmare for companies having to stock painted bumpers since there are so many colors out there. Most of the time when you purchase oem body parts, they do come primed.

 

How bad is the damage? I had a crack repaired and the entire bumper sprayed, matched, blended and cleared. I can't even tell it's been done and I'm pretty picky.

 

It's bad. As everything from under the driver side headlight to the wheelwell is gone.

I ordered it today and it should be here on Friday or Monday.

 

I damaged my 2g bumper and the replacement was black.

 

The paint on the adjacent fenders needs to matched. Some colors are easy to match like black, some are very tough. Have a reputable shop paint it for you that can match the fenders by using a certain chip/ color variant or tinting the mix. A good shop can provide an acceptable match without blending the fenders.

All Acura recent/late model bumpers come primed in satin black primer, or a gloss solid gray primer.

 

I'm going to have some of the grill and some spare headlight internals painted also.

 

nope doesnt come repainted......ntohing but the skirts side mirrors and wings come painted.

 

it won't come painted. body shops will tint the paint just as powerflow stated. bumpers are typically painted off the body so blending isn't necessary. i agree with going to a reputable shop so they match the paint correctly.

 

Hey Brian, did you have a shop in mind? Let me know cuz I got a shop that I had some parts painted, and they are the best shop in town...

Considering the bumpers don;t match the car from the factory very well the body shop will just paint it off the car and it will be as good or better match than the facotry bumper if the body shop is good.

 

Accident was at the Kansas Expressway and I44 stoplight.

What body shop did you use? I was going to use Top-Craft since they paint all of my buddy's high end cars.
