Do I have the only TL with good doors, or do you guys need a video demonstration of their operation?

Mine open fine. They stay open when in the detents. They close by themselves when not in the detent, but most people keep their hand on the car door when they get out of the car, which prevents it from closing on you.

My biggest issue with the doors is that my girlfriend is used to the doors on her Intrepid, and thinks she has to haul off and slam the hell out of mine to get them to close too.

Funny . I do have a picture of my 3 BMWs (745li,540i Sport,330i) with my wife pulling out to the driveway in our 07 TL. If I ever get around to photoshoping out the tags, will post. Cars are my paid for hobby. I have been picking up cars needing work since I could drive. Two of my cars in the funnel (of the 8) need an engine swap (good engines in hand), one explorer given to me on trade for fixing a guys Jaguar XKR-100 (door handles roller switch problems with the windows and brake work, as well as detailing) needs the trans and transfer case installed (Have it sitting there) So, it is not like they are new... However, if you count all the spark plugs I manage - boat, three motorcycles, quad, tractor, two rider mowers, weed wackers - it is over 80. A friend of mine and I call that the spark plug factor.

It was 9 the other day, but sold our 01 Audi A4 Quattro when we finally put our 07 TL on the road (bought it hit in the front, had to work out the title work).

So, checked out the doors further. There are three stops on our doors, and yep, my wife knows about the stops. Yeah, they work o.k., and for me - I park away from people, so not a real problem. My wife tries, but where she works, the third stop is too far, and the second is too close... Maybe I could take the bar out and cut a 4th groove between the second and third.

Might try it after:

- fixing the noisy glovebox
- fixing the outside mirror - not moving to stored positons correctly

Even on a hill, once my doors are in 1 of the 2 "lock" positions while open, they do not come back and hit me on the ankle.

I've owned my '04 since October 2003. I still haven't gotten used to this. lol. It's not so bad except in cramped quarters. Ah well... it's one of the few complaints I've had about the car.
