Friction modified fluid....
Whats up guys? does anyone know where in the San Diego area I might be able to pick up the syncromesh friction modified fluid to do a tranny flush? I would order it online but I dont have a mail box to get it sent to because the unit I am being stationed with on pendleton. Any suggestions?

You will just have to call around to any GM dealership and see if they stock it. If they don't they can possibly order it. Be advised though I have seen some dealerships mark this stuff up big time, so try not to overpay too much for it if you can avoid it.

Just want to make sure we are on the same page here. If you mean "simply drain and refill once" when you say "flush" then OK. Just want to make sure you aren't referring to the 3x flush/drain refill the AT owners do with ATF.
As JTS97Z28 said, since you can't mail order just call around to see what GM dealers have 3 quarts. I would not be surprised if they are looking for > $12/qt for it. Still worth every penny IMO for how good it made my MT.

i live in SD and had a hard time finding it local. i'll subscribe to this thread to see if you find anything.
i ended up buying it online back in 2008 or so and bought a few batches but just recently ran out so i'll be getting more in the next year or so.

I've purchased some in the past at a local dealer in Riverside but it was special order and they actually gave me a better deal. BTW I used this on my k20z3 trans

Summit racing sells this stuff for $11 per quart. You need to find some one in the SD area who also needs to do a flush and split 5 quarts with them, it will save you both. In the Bay Area dealers are charging $19 per quart. Summit ships same day and arrives next day with flat $10 shipping.

Just paid $12/qt on Amazon Prime last night. Its as low as $9 on there but probably not with free shipping and whatnot.
Was hoping to get a year out of the recent 60k service fluid change but I've changed my mind.

Thanks for the input guys, I did mean the drain and refill not the 3x3. Got it all figured out though had it shipped to someone's house that I was already at the unit. Amazon prime is the shit, took 2 days to get here.

True, Honda is claiming it'll fix the annoying 3rd gear issue, but after all these years, why not go with a proven fluid? If you put the new Honda stuff in and you're still having 3rd gear issues, then you have to do it all over again.
Paul, our mechanic in NJ claims the new Honda fluid and the GM/AC Delco fluid is now the same stuff and probably comes from the same manufacturer. I've been using the GM stuff exclusively for 10 years without a hitch.
