Four week delay?

Just received word that my April order of WDP/Quartz/6mt will be delayed about four weeks. This may be a regional problem but has anyone experienced the same, or do you think im getting bs from my dealer?

Possibly the Dealer is yanking you -- unless you already got the VIN. I ordered my Apr. 28, and go to sign papers & get VIN tonight. Take delivery next week. But I heard of a trick where they take you out of the market by saying "Sure, it'll be here _____" and then take their time trying to find the car you want. Take long enough, and you're likely to just pay whatever to get it over with. The other side is their telling the truth and the combo you want just didn't have enough demand so they pushed it back a few cycles.

I ordered a ABP/Quartz/6sp/Navi/HPT. I went to the dealer and placed my deposit on 4/21. The dealer place the order with the factory on 5/7. At that time I was told 6 to 8 weeks because I have a "rare" color combo and 6sp/Navi's were rare also. The order was "rejected" by the factory. I was told Honda builds cars in color, Navi and transmission batches. In other words, they may build ABP/Qtz/5AT/ but not the combo I ordered. The dealer also explained if I wanted an Anthracite, SSM, or NBP the wait would probably be shorter. The dealer also did a search for my the car I ordered and states no one has the combo I want. Today I was told by the dealer they will "reorder" my color combo on 6/11 and hopefully this time it will be made. It is frustrating to wait but I am spending 35K and I do not want to settle for another color so I must wait. I am envious of those who have their TL's, but again I will wait for what I want.

I'm pretty sure there is a 6spd tranny shortage.

1blkowl,
Your comments prompted me to finally register with this forum. I find it funny that you are waiting for the exact car I turned down. My name was on the reserve list for that exact car, except for possibly the HP tires. This was at Dick Hanna Acura in Portland Or. I turned it down because I really do not care for the NAV option. I tried to get an ABP/Quartz/6spd package, but was told they are not producing anymore at the factory. Sounds like BS to me, but they could be telling the truth. I am now waiting for an Anthracite/Ebony/6spd set up. I see what you are saying about waiting for what you want. I thought I could wait too, but I am a weakling. I seriosly have the fever! Hopefully I'll get it this month. Not sure if they've sold the ABP one yet, but it may be worth a shot.
It does make you wonder though..... If you placed your order on 5/7, why did they have one in Portland, but not at your dealer? Who's yanking who?

Welcome to the Forum. I am glad you quit "lurking around." I did the same before I joined. As someone once told me, timing is everything. Yes, I do have the fever. It is most frustrating waiting for this car to arrive. I am probably sure that my dealer (Valencia Acura) is on the up and up with me. The customer service has been excellent. I will call him and ask him to search again to see what they find. I have only seen one ABP/Qtz/6sp/Navi on this forum. I truly hope your car arrives this month so you can enjoy what it has to offer. I test drove the six speed and it is an awesome car. You can't go wrong with the 6 speed. The combo you ordered is a popular one, so I have no doubt that you will receive it soon. Good luck and keep us posted when you get it.

That time frame sounds about right. Bought my TL Anthra/Quartz/6MT/Navi on 4/17 and was told 8 weeks. I saw there build list just last week with a ton of cars ahead of mine. At quick glance it does look like they build them in bunches. My build date was 6/1-5 with about 20 other Navi models. Dealer said about another 2-3 weeks after build date car should be at the dealer. God I hope so.

Thats about the same time theyre telling people here in CA. I dont see any reason why yours should be delayed further since you ordered it back in april. I say go with another dealer.
