Base Price: $34,440
Five-Year Ownership Cost: $59,438
Brand's J.D. Power CSI Score: 894
Strategic Vision TVI Score: 787
The TL is related to the Honda Accord, yet it feelsto be from a higher league, thanks to a beautifully styled interior, including bolstered, perforated leather seats and an available voice recognition system that can be used for audio, climate control, and navigation features. The TL is also one of the least expensive cars for running costs at any price, with an estimated $770 in repairs, according to Vincentric, over five years. An available voice-activated navigation system with live traffic information is among the most useful features.

Good find buddy. At the end of it's life cycle the TL is still going toe to toe with the big boys. 2.5 years later, I still love my 05. I can't wait to see what the new generation will bring to the table. If it's any indication, looking at the new Accord, it will eat up the competition. The new Accord is winning comparison tests in many different car mags, and I'm sure the new TL will also, with it's new SH-AWD

The Volvo V70 are they serious! Someone over at Forbes must have problems because how can a station wagon be ahead of the TL! I didn't even think that they still made station wagons.

^ apparently they do. I'm glad the TL made the podium, but how does a Volvo beat it?
I'm surprised the 3series made the list as well. nice car, but as expensive as hell.

I looked at the IS250 but it was too much $$$ and too small. Volvos - yeah, people buy them but how can you put the TL, IS250 and a station wagon in same category?
I will say that Volvo does have the best wagons (and seats) on the market.

Volvo is not my style but I can't knock it. Growing up my mom had a Volvo station wagon. That thing was a tank. I don't know if the build quality is still good but I'm sure they're still solid vehicles.

As I said almost five years ago when the 3G TL was introduced, "Acura has a winner on its hands". It obviously still is a winner.

Luxury is no longer defined by brand name. The 2008 Honda Accord trumps the 2007 TL, but few consider it a "Luxury" car.
Volvo's always been in that borderline luxury line, much like Acura... In fact, the older Volvo's WERE the luxury line of the 70's/80's because they were imported, technically advanced, and the safest vehicle on the road.
and you guys laughing at the wagons while driving a 4 door family sedan known as a TL are funny too. The TL is not a sports car, no matter how much carbon fiber you stick on it. I love my TL, and the CF I've hung all over it, but I recognize what it is.
I'd rock a Volvo V70R in a heartbeat - 300HP, AWD, turbo (over 100HP worth of easy tuning with a turbo upgrade)... Too bad it's now a Ford product and will never have the reliability of Honda. I got kids, and am seriously considering a V70R for the wife (OK, for me) later in life.

I was test driving S60R's a while back and almost pulled the trigger but didn't. The main reason why i didn't was because of questionable reliability and lack luster resale, but to be honest that was really it. 300hph, brembos, active handling, easily modded, and they look pretty pimp too if you get the factory body kit. Its not a bad ride at all..

I can see it borrows styling cues from the TL and definitely has more of the TL's luxury gadgets, but BETTER than a TL? That might be stretching it.
I've always felt that purchasing the 2006 TL was a really good move for us. You just get so much more for the money with this car than any Lexus, Infiniti, or other luxury brand. And you can't beat the low maintenance costs, relatively good gas mileage, and great resale value.

OMG! Half of those quasi-luxury vehicles shouldn't even be listed. Glad to see the TL is still a perennial top rater. These ratings at times are so biased and kickbacks galore sum up, "the behind the scenes," of making the list.

Quite a few enthusaists that own are considering dumping them. I think the '07 is the last year for the R .
It sucked..

assuming the same applies to the g35...probably why it's not in the list...

Volvos are the most expensive car (to maintain) that I have ever owned and I've owned 3. Great seats, but the newer ones have awkward seating positions for me.
Yukon Denalis are definitely luxury cars. My parents have the '03 Yukon XL Denali and it's every bit as luxurious as the Caddy DTS.
When I bought my TL, I had decided that I was going to buy what I wanted and could afford anything under $50K. I went to a car show in Syracuse and sat in every car at the show (OK, I wasn't interested in a Ford Focus) and the best seating position for me was an Audi A8L. Since it cost way more than my first house, I ruled that out. The TL was my 2nd favorite. I had every intention of buying a BMW 3-series, but I couldn't get comfortable. C-class Mercedes was worse and the Volvo S60 was horrible. The G35 was close, but the interior quality wasn't close to the TL (didn't know about the rattles back then). I liked the Saab 9-5 OK but not as much as the TL. Surprisingly [NOT] the 04 Accord came in 3rd, right behind the TL. Audi A4 was way too small and the A6 has way too many electrical issues to even consider. I liked the Lexus GS OK but not as much as the Acura/Honda.
I just went over 60K miles and I'm still very happy with my decision. No nav, auto, desert mist with the very light interior.
