Fog Lights

I noticed that the fog lights are pretty yellow, especially when they're on with the HIDs. Has anyone changed them out for more white bulbs like PIAAs?

It is possible, and I do believe some people have changed them out. As for putting in lighter bulbs, that MAY decrease their functionality(sp?). There is currently debate over weather the yellow light actually does make a difference(no doubt yellow wavelengths are best able to penetrate fog, but these may just be filtered yellow(does that only allow yellow wavelengths through?). My biggest fret with the fog lamps is there location, the current space should be used for DRLs, IMO.

I put in some piaa 'super plasma spark' bulbs. They look cool at night and also right when you turn them on(press unlock on the keyfob). At night, its just so much brightness that you CANNOT notice the mismatched colortemps, but in the daytime after the h.i.d.s' warm up and turn white, the piaa foglights are hella blue. Doesnt match. I don't care though, cuz' i dont drive with headlights on in the daytime.

The stock foglights are useless for me. I kept getting frustrated because one part of the lighting was white but the other part was yellow whenever I tried to use the foglights.

So about a week and minus 40 bucks later I threw in some Sylvania foglights from the local Autozone. Way better if you ask me because I see that much easier now when I have the fogs on. All of my lighting is a combined clear white light after the HID's heat up. Downside is that some drivers think that I actually have my brights on.

So you dont have to take the front of the car off to get to the fogs, just to get to the heads for clearing, although they are in the same housing.

I don't know about your 3G guys, but the 2G is an easy 20 minute job to replace both fog bulbs. Also I recommend the mod, it is an ill look

Yes, but Foglights are spposed to be lower on the vehicle not placed where the headlights are.

O.K. I changed out my O.E.M. foglights with PIAA Extreme White Plus bulbs. I had a 2002 Maxima and changed them out with the same bulbs to match my HIDs in the Maxima. They were close but not an exact match.

I figured they should come close to the HIDs in my new TL. Unfortunately, while they are noticeably better than the O.E.M. bulbs, they're still relatively yellow next to the TL's HIDs. Maybe the TL's HIDs are bluer than my Maxima's HIDs? I don't know. I'm also thinking that the bulbs sit in a reflective enclosure that bounces the light into the headlight area then out forward. Perhaps the reflective material is yellow tinted?

The installation was pretty simple actually because the instructions are in the manual. The driver side bulb was harder to take out since I had a hard time getting my hand at a good angle to get enough leverage to rotate the bulb and remove it. The engine compartment is really packed tight!

Unless you can find a whiter bulb than the Extreme white plus bulbs, I wouldn't bother to change the O.E.M. foglights.

When you change em to be white you no longer have FOG lights, you just have more headlights, and unless you get more xenons, the projectors can't be matched.

That's tits baby. I was just looking at my yellow fogs tonight and telling myself how nice it would be to have either a dual HID setup with fogs mounted underneath (later mod) but after seeing these bulbs, consider this mod being done. Thanks for sharing!

Will the 9006 models be a drop in replacement in the 3 gens?
