Floor Mats Upgraded for 2005?

Have the parchment floor mats been upgraded for 2005? During a recent visit to Vandergriff Acura, I happened to notice that the floor mats for the showroom TL appeared to me a upgraded floor compared to the cheap foam backing mats I got with my 04 TL. When I brought this to the parts manager's attention , he agreed to make a swap free of charge (although the "05" mats seemed to be a little darker than the mats I originally had).

Foam Backing ?
I have 2004 mats and the backing is rubber. My mats have a 'TL' emblem on them.
Did the mats in your car have a TL emblem and the drivers mat fit in the holder ?

My 04 is with the TL emblem and foam backing. I need to run to the dealer to replace it then. Thanks.

I know the mats on the '05 are better than the originals on the '04, but I wouldn't be surprised if Acura did the upgrade in the middle of the '04 model year since the original mats were a joke for a $30k+ car.

I actually like the foam backing on mine... it sticks to the carpet below it much better and stays put...

They must of changed the maps in mid year because my TL's mats are plastic on the bottom. I got my TL in June.

The backing on my mats is rubber with many small rubber pegs to hold them in place. Build date---Sept 2004.

IMHO...it's the quality of the carpet that matters, not the backing. The mats should be fastened down properly so the backing really shouldn't matter. If you really want high quality mats, there are several companies that produce excellent floor mats even a few that actually use wool instead of synthetic fibers....expensive but very nice.

Ciao

I totally agree. THe foam-backed ones stick like glue. I've never had a set of mats stay in place so well.

However, I do have a problem with the rear driver side mat. Every time I drive the car after the wife drove it, the seat needs to be adjusted back for me. When this happens, the seat track gets caught on the front edge of the mat and bends it upward on its way back. Annoying as hell.
