First speeding ticket in 12 years...

I was driving down a newly paved road south of Houston listening to xm when I see a State Trooper coming at me in the other lane... Nailed. 77 in a 60 . The car is just too quiet. 77 in my ford truck would have been roaring even in 5th. I drove pretty much by sound. Not with this vehicle. When I explained it to him he smiled and issued the ticket. Not buying it... Well, its time for a radar detector and a defensive driving course.

The car rides so quite, especially at higher speeds. I know how you feel.

It is very deceiving how fast you are really going. If it had been out on the highway it would have been much worse. more like 85-90, this was a 2 lane road that had just been repaved. Roads out in these areas are really straight and for the most part have no traffic.

I just purchased a radar detector this morning, trying to figure out how to run power cable...

Yeah, I got caught going 82 in a 65...first ticket in nearly 15 years. Went to court last week, plead guilty and got the guilty plea stricken and six months PBJ. That's pretty standard if you have a clean record (at least it is around here).

I can take defensive driving class online and get it wiped from my license. I can't blame anyone but me. I just have to make sure that in the future I pay attention. ( to the radar detector) It is just such a nice ride, I can't keep from opening it up occasionally.

Lightbulb Something Old

Sounds like it is time to revive an old idea found on

old(er) GM cars from the 70's and 80's. I remember my old

bosses Buick Electra's used to have a little driver managed

warning signal to alert you once you hit a pre-set speed.

Used to come in VERY handy for keeping the driver aware of

excessive speed. Maybe it's time to resurrect some OLDER technology...

Sorry to hear that. I found the car is so quiet that I have to read the tach to switch gear as I cannot hear the engine with the sound system on.

When it comes to a speeding citation, I'm not too concerned with the fine. Rather, I'm more concerned with the 3 years of auto insurance premium surcharges. (NJ here)

I haven't gotten a speeding ticket yet...however everytime i go to dropp off my sister at UCONN the three hours of highway driving I usually cruise at about 80 mostly in 65 but some 55 . One of these days its gonna be bad news with a cop pulling me over....gotta get a radar detector before that happens
