First Service Questions ???

Im at 5300 miles. And the "service Soon A1" light came on. I called the dealer to schedule the service and they said the first service should have been done at 3700 miles, so why the reminder come on soo late with my car???? Also the service will cost $ 60 is that a good price?

It's basically an oil change and a tire rotation. Would I pay $60 for a that? No. Would others? Sure. Different strokes for different folks.

Get the tires rotated at Costco for free if you have one close by and pay $30 to the dealer to change oil.

IMHO, follow what the MID tells you, and forget what the dealer says. My TL told me to do the A1 at about the same mileage as you. Others here haven't done it until 7000+ miles. I might rotate the EL42s at 10k miles, but I'm definitely not doing it with every oil change.

I guess your dealer is using their old brain (I don't mean it's wrong, but they definitely don't learn/remember that 04TL has suggested onwers to follow MID) to deal with your new 04TL. If you trust your owner manual, please just follow what it says and do what it suggests. Dealers have their reasons not following the owner manual... :o

A1 is supposed to have oil (oil filter) changed and tires rotated. Don't bite the deal your dealer is going to throw into you, they may ask you to do some 50+ items checkup, which may cost you more than $100. (If you always trust what they have done for you, please discard my suggestion and go for it.)

Just did my first A1 service at 7500 miles following the MID's suggestion. I drive almost all highway. I paid $40 for an oil change with Mobil 1 and am getting the tires rotated for free at Costco. The MID definetely seems to change based on your driving.

My dealer (Vandergriff Acura - Arlington, TX) quoted $28.50 out the door for the oil change.

The dealer you talked to obviously isn't familiar with the MID display or the owners manual for an 04TL. Follow the MID. The 3700 miles is the old brain talking as someone else said. I'd tell the dealer to read the manual before they make statements like that in the future. I'll trust the Acura engineers over some fool that answers the phone in the service department any day.

$60 sounds fair but skip anything they try to talk you in to over and above the oil change and tire rotation. That's all you need right now.

DIY = $10 bucks, oh yeah, + a couple bucks more for a beer or two.

Does costco rotate anybodys tires for free?? Or do you originally have to have purchased them there??

Do they do good work - or are they wrecking your rims etc. removing lugs?

Place by me looks shady. Good question about the tire purchase.
