So the indicator displays "Oil Life <20%" and the mileage at 2750. Is there going to be another indicator tellinig me that oil need to be changed or if not then when should I change it?

with only 20% left i think it's worthwhile changing the oil. it never hurts to change more often than not.

"Service Due Soon" will appear at < 15%.

2750 and already due for service... your wife sure is an aggressive driver!

I changed mine at < %20 at about 5100 miles for piece of mind.

Followed by a "Service Due Now".

5100 Miles, really? I wonder why mine is so soon.

Yes, she dirves all day, but I thought the percentage is pro-rated for 3000 to 5000 miles.

Wow. My TL has 2300 on it and the oil life says 80%. I'm a little worried because at this rate, it will have over 10,000 miles on it until it's due for service. I don't know about everyone else but personally I feel really uncomfortable letting the oil stay in there for that long, especially the original oil which is undoubtedly filled with metallic break-in particles. Not to mention the fact that I live in Arizona and engine oil becomes filled with dirt and contaminents really fast, and the oil life monitor doesn't take that into consideration.

Is there a problem with taking my TL into the dealer for its first maintainence/oil change visit even though the oil life monitor may indicate 60% oil life or higher?

I believe the oil life monitor calculates the oil life percentage based on how the car is driven (i.e. frequency and severity of hard accelerations, RPMs, etc)

i took mine in at 2800 with mine showing 50%. It was a free oil change and I was in town that day and said to do it but not to reset the MID. I now have 3500 miles with 40% showing. I will just do my 2nd oil change when it is time and then reset the MID. I think anything around 3k or more is fine and the engine is fully broken in at this point.
