^I think shes a chick. I don't see the logic behind your folks car purchasing like that, regardless of whether or not your good students/kids. I could better understand them getting you guys each a porsche instead of a long list of progressivly better cars. Also, by thinking that the amount of cars you guys are being given doesn't make you spoiled, suggests you are likely pretty damn spoiled. I get good grades, dont drink or smoke, and don't get into trouble and I get a few hundred bucks for my birthday, and it isn't like my folks can't afford that stuff. So from what you said, I wouldn't call you "deserving" of a TL, nor am I, but I am not suggesting that you are in any way "bad," just that your perception of the real world is slightly skewed.

Anyway... I am happy I am allowed to drive my fathers TL when I get my licence in a few weeks, the most my parents will do in terms of getting me a car is help me out with a maximum of $2K under any normal circumstances.

You other guys have to remember different families have different values. For example, I have two friends, one who's father is worth over $500 Mil and one whos father is worth over $1 Billion(he started a company you have all had interactions with, whos name I will not disclose), and one of them was given a stripped down S40 to share with his sister for the safety aspect, the other will be getting a used Camry. At the same time I have another friend whos mother bought him a car with money they don't have, and they didn't even want it. I think what peoples parents decide to do for them is up to them, and it doesn't neccesarily make the kid a bad kid, or spoiled for that matter. I do understand how it can be frustrating seeing people who didn't seemingly work for something take for granted what you worked so hard to earn.

Anyway, If you want to pick up girls with a car, I recomend you trade this and get a used Boxter, the TL is not a real pick up chicks car. Also, around here girls date older guys, and definatly not 16 year olds with nice cars. You may have a shot with your teachers though(in reference to recent news), just pay attention in class.

As far as mods to make your car, err, more attractive... Number 1 would be window tint and wearing a suit, no chick is gonna go for a ricer, so stay away from that stuff. I simple aspec kit and tint would probably suffice. I am no mental health expert, but as a 16 year old I would much rather be with girls around my age, not someone my aunts age. Anyway, the best way to pick up girls using this car would be to use it to drive to parties simply as a means of transportation(if your parties are anything like ours).

Wow.. at 16-18, I was working two jobs and bought my 98 Honda Civic. I spent every dime on that car... and I loved it.. it was "my BMW/Mercedes".

I was a great student, didnt smoke/drink, kept my parents happy, and yada yada yada. All I got in return was a roof over my head and food on my plate. Now they pay for my college which I appreciate more than they know. I dont think me being a good son calls for a new car every year... my goodness. Damn lucky kids....

Hello everyone, I got the car tinted and it really looks nice. HAs anyone chromed their wheels and how does it look? Is it attention getting?

You know, I think it's great that you're driving a new/nice car. Every family is in a different financial situation. If they're okay with buying you a new car, awesome.

You're really not helping your situation by posting comments/questions like that. You're postings make you look like an idiot, even for a 16 year old. If you want a serious answer, ask in a mature way.

 

For a 16 year old, you can impress girls (the right kind) by studying hard and getting a scholarship to one of the ivy league schools.

 

This is how i feel about my parents gettting my TL for me. I make them happy so that they will keep me happy and we both appreciate each other. Well said SLICK.

 

cathmag, if you think you need a nice car to get girls, then you need to go back to the drawing board and rethink EVERYTHING.

 

Believe, getting into an IVy leage school won't get you the girls. I have seen 20 year old guys who just leech off mommy and daddy get some of the hottest girls around. Some of the IVY league guys I know have never gone out with a girl intheir life, and believe they have tried to ask. How about front bra and nice stereo system that everyone can hear 1 mile down the road?
