Finally got my TL

Thanks everyone for giving me opinions on my previous post. I finally decided on the TL and I got it last weekend. NOw the fun begins. Anyone have any recommendations on mods I can do for the TL to help impress the opposite sex? I was hoping to impress girls in the 17-29 range. What type of mods would you recommend for me? I got a black TL.

Congrats, though.

Drive like a mature adult and not like a 16 year old.

One way to impress them is to not be dumb. say, I dont know.... like going on forums and asking what can I buy to impress girls.

Seriously.

Probably 2 12s in a vented enclosure with 800 or so watts and some ugly 20 inch chrome wheels would do the trick- Well, that would impress the stupid girls. Intelligent girls would just think you are dumb.

Penile Enlargement is a great mod to start off with if you'd like to impress young, dumb blondes in your demographic. Because let's face it: Acura TL may be a really nice car but it ain't a Mercedes or a BMW and it definitely ain't a Porche. Also to impress ladies, getting some personality and a sense of humor also goes a long way. I'm not sure if they sell it online but check eBay - they sell everything.

- Kidding, but you did leave yourself open for that one.

16 years old and a $35,000 car? I pity you.

Your parents are fucking idiots!

Stop beating him down for this. Whocares if his parents bought him this car, you didn't! Just because he is 16 doesn't automatically mean he is going to go out and drive this car crazy. i mean atleast his parents didn't buy him a sports car, right?

Cathmag i'm happy for you man, congrats on your new car! Just enjoy it and be responsible. I'm sure I drive a hell of alot more reckless than you do, but since i'm 24 and bought the care myself I have no one else to blame if shit hits the fan

i'm going to give them benefit of the doubt and say they have part time jobs that can easily make roughly 500-800$ a month on near min wage depending on the hours they put in. then used their parents credit to get the loan.

a TL is not that difficult of a car to buy. it just depends do you want your car to be 90% of your income or 20%?

congrats on your new car. i bought a 2002 TL when i was 18 with my own money, i'd like to upgrade to a third gen, but i'm waiting for the next mid gen change and to see what happens with that.

YUP!! give the kid a break. when I was 17 all i thought about was girls too. well, still all I think about is women but that's besides the point!! and what's wrong w/ showing off our gorgeous TL!!

cathmag, don't listen to all the haters. i'm 24 and I have a black tl. I would start first w/ tint. I know my tl looked 1000x's better when I got the tint on. I went limo, but whatever you like. next, i would go w/ some wheels and springs. since your car is black, you don't have to go chrome. but if u like the bling than go for it. they will look sick on the black/blue color of our TL. I went 19" and went for some hyper black wheels w/ chrome lips becuz I like the dark look. make sure you lower it afterwords though or the car will sit WAY too high. look like a 4x4. then, I would go for the sounds. a little boom never hurt anybody. after that, rsb, video/nav, clear headlights, intake, exhaust, bbk, supercharger, ect. ect. ect. it never ends!

my advice though, don't try to CATCH the chicks w/ all the sweet mods. impress them by keeping it on the low, and then showing them when they get in!! the voice activated navi always gets a smile for me!!

Just "my" opinion....(again)

Okay - as a 33 year old female...I'd like to give my two cents.
(Sorry that I just missed the 29 year old age limit; damn! )
Just teasing....

I guess I'm with the "over the hill Acruraziner's"...
I don't understand how any parent (as a person old enough to technically have a 16 year old, if I had a kid at 17 - AGH! ) would buy a 16 year old "kid" a $35,000+ car?? Even if I could afford it; I wouldn't. That's insane...

Perfect example:
My b/f works with this kid (an apprentice) who just graduated a week and a half ago and is barely 18. He'd been bugging my b/f to buy his '96 Grand Prix GTP coupe from him so that he could drive down to Senior Week at the beach. So, after thinking about it (and because my b/f just bought a Mustang GT), agreed to the sale. So, last Friday the kid, his mother and his brother (who's a Toyota mechanic) came to look over the car, test drive, etc. Without much effort on our part, we went to the notary that night and off the kid went to the beach.
Keep in mind two things:
1. He was so anxious, he didn't even familiarize himself with the car, which has a lot of gadgets for its day.
2. This is the 5th car mommy and daddy bought him in less than 2-years because "kid" keeps wrecking them and blowing engines.
So only after having the Grand Prix GTP for less than two days...he did the following:
1. Didn't read the manual, so the idiot froze the alarm system and needed to have the car towed to a garage at the beach so he could get back in it.
2. Driving home, the dumby, some how, some way....caught the engine on fire.
Now this wasn't anything that we, the sellers, could have prevented. The car only had one owner, it was recently inspected and had a tune-up along with repairs that ran well over $1,000. The car was virtually flawless. It was the inexperienced driver. Still, to him it's a lesson not learned.

I'm not jealous that my parent's didn't buy me a Porshe when I was 16; hell, all I wanted was something better than my 10-speed bike. LOL. I ended up with a Pontiac Fiero, which was bought from my uncle (the only owner). And as a responsible adult...I have worked my way up to the TL. I cherish this car like it was a freaking Porshe. If I were 16 - I wouldn't give a shit about the car; I'd have my friends jumping in and out of it (who also probably don't care about your car), yada, yada.

I'm not here to be "Oprah"...but sometimes a really young person doesn't see the "whole picture", especially at the precious age of 16. I've been on my own since 18 and I still didn't get the "whole picture" until around my late twenties (after MUCH partying and having fun).

My only advice really is just to be safe and think wisely.
Signing off....
Mother Kelly

I think it's nonsensical for a parent to buy a 16 year old a brand new 35,000.00 car.

Other than that....if he wants to impress the girls I think they will be impressed enough with the fact that he comes from a family wealthy enough to shower a 16 year old with this kind of car.

By the way, I don't think that many women between 17-29 would be impressed as much with your car, regardless of mods, as they would be with your looks, character and personality. You probably won't be near the car when you meet most of the women anyway-- you'll be indoors someplace. Most of the college-age+ women I knew didn't care about the type of car a guy had if it was clean and tidy, and some women are turned off by long discourses on the wonderful car...

Then again, I may not know much about women... my wife tells me I don't, and she won't let me try to learn more...

Try to forget the money aspect of things as this is all relative. For a family with millions, a 35k car may very well be the equivalent of a regular family buying their kid a civic. And lets take a step back and consider a few other things: He could have (as most kids his age probably would have) decided to go with some mega horse power muscle car that improves the likelihood of a fast and glorious departure from this world. Instead he gets the 4th safest vehicle out there, that is sexy, sophisticated and fun to drive. I swear, some of you should visit 3rd world countries where the 16 year olds will laugh because your parents buy you a car period.

I couldn't agree more...

I'd recommend that you get whatever mods and keep your TL in whatever condition you like -- something that reflects your personality. Regardless if it's putting in a 2000-watt stereo or filling the cabin with litter or keeping it clean and tidy, do it because you like it and not anyone else. The girls will learn a lot more about your personality when they see what you've done.

I have decided to go with the really dark tints. I want to start dating girls from the 17-29 age range and hopefully I can use the car to impress them. I was thinking also of chroming the stcckwheels that came with the TL Do you think these will get the girls attention?

DAMN! we didn't do a good enough job of convincing cathmag to get a 330i and now we're stuck with him LOL. dude, if your parents gave you the choice between a TL and 330i and you chose the TL over the bimmer then you don't need help getting girls, you really need help with yourself. how did you decide on the TL if money wasn't the issue

Interesting point....its all you young AZ'ers that ALWAYS are asking us, apparently now over the hill AZ'ers, for advice on mods? Guess I will have to put a cut off on what age people I will help now.....cause I can send you over 40 PM's right now in my box that I am sure are ALL kids asking for advise and help via PM....so I might watch what you say here bud....you might just need help some day by an older, experienced, more wise person than yourself. On the other hand...maybe you are like some of the other kids...who know it all already.

This might work if you are trolling the high school parking lot or maybe the local drag where the hookers ply their trade, but I don't think most women in the 17-29 range will be particularly impressed just by the car.

^^^ The puppy concept would get women's attention much better than any car, IMO.

You are more likely to meet a woman and start talking to her someplace out of sight of the car (in a restaurant, mall, club, theatre) than within eyesight of your car, so you won't be able to rely on the TL to break the ice. Of course, I've never picked up a woman at a gas station or parking lot before...
Talk to your mom, sister and/or dad about the concept of attracting women and how well a car would work.

Well, my first response was pulled by the moderator, followed by a stern PM, so I guess I'll tone this down a bit.

cathmag - any girl that you will impress with your car, instead of you, is a loser. You can't be serious with some of these questions, although the dialogue is pretty entertaining. At only 16, you can't be that hard up.

There are a bunch of guys that know a ton of tricks to spice up your TL. Make mods that you want, not what you think others will like.

I would suggest:

fuzzy dice
curb feelers
fender skirts
dual trunk lid antennas
chrome door edge guards
eight track tape player
Cragar mags
Hijacker shocks for the rear
glass pack muffler (forget the coffee can)
naked lady mud flaps
hood scoop from a 1969 Z/28
shag carpeting
vinyl roof
spot lights

I'm sure a walk through AutoZone or Pep Boys will yield even more mods.

Seriously, your car should be an expression of you. If you are honest with yourself, it will show through. Sincerity is the true chick magnet.

Uh oh, I hear the moderator coming!

Maybe he isnt a immature 16 y/o and actually wanted a reliable car with good resale value and knew the benefits of a honda engine with good gas mileage vs. a bmw 330i, also he might have considered the 330i overpriced and wanted to save his parents some money, just cuz I can afford to get a mercedes dont mean I am going to, because some of them are overpriced for my tastes

My parents bought my older brother a fully loaded 1999 Honda Accord EX V6 when he got his license, a fully loaded 2001 Lexus IS 300 when he graduated from high school, a fully loaded 2003 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE just because, a fully loaded 2005 Acura TL just because, and a fully loaded 2006 Lexus GS 300 AWD for a college graduation present. I currently own his 2005 Acura TL and my parents will be buying me a new car this fall when I head off to college. We're definitely not spoiled, we make our parents happy ( get great grades, don't drink, don't smoke, etc. ) and this is how they tell us they appreciate it. If you keep your parents happy, they'll keep you happy.

So what's next, don't get a girl pregnent until you marry her and your parents will buy you matching his and her houses? I''ve been running my parents business for the last 3 years and all I got was two days off for my 21st birthday. Where do you live? our parents def. need to get together because i've had my eye on an 07 TL and a 1967 Corvette with a 427 that I know would make me very happy.

j/k dude... good for you!
