Talking Final week with my TL...

Well, it is official!! I signed the papers and I will be trading in my 2004 TL (6MT + NAV) for a 2005 Audi S4. The exchange will be done Friday or Saturday. I was able to get a great trade in value for my TL. They lowered the price of the Audi enough that it was hard to say no.

The S4 is a CPO with 6,300 miles. I get free service for 4 years plus 6years/100,000 mile warranty. The TL currently has 29,400 miles.

edit by mod Ron A: If you have items to sell, please post them in the Black Market Forum. Thanks.

Thanks to everyone here for all the advice and comments!!

I will be trading the TL with all the goodies except my 18" wheels and tires, the trunk tray, and my weather tech floor mats. PM me if you are interested.

big V8 power and awd dunno if i consider that a true drivers car. its a awesome car but i consider drivers car to be a traditional rwd vehicle cause awd is makes it somewhat forgiving in terms of handling.

I dunno about that. When I was in the market for a car my main focus car was the STI which then shifted to the EVO mr. My wife suggested why not try the S4 since that was going to be my next car anyways. I couldn't stop drooling from the thought that I was finally going to be driving a S4. So during the test drive I am all set to push the car to its max since all I was looking for was performance and that's it. Well, to say the least the S4 was a dissappointment, a dream shattered. The car dove like a buick in hard cornering (exaggerating). It slid 3 lanes like mickey mouse on ice in one of his cartoons when I made a fast turn and I wasn't really much impressed with the pick-up either. The one thing that does sound pretty sweet is the V8. So all in all I was pretty saddenned that day cause my future dream the car that I was aspiring to get some day is no longer so.

On a side note if you want a pocket rocket, nothin and I mean nothin beats the EVO for under $40k.

So, if it's your final week with the TL do you drive it like you stole it, or take it easy to assure nothing goes wrong that could complicate the transaction?

Funny, My friend just told me this morning that he bought an '05.5 S4 this past weekend. He'd been looking at them for a couple of weeks but I didn't think he was seriously going to get it. I haven't checked it out yet, but I absolutely love the S4. A neighbor has the S4 Cabriolet. It's a beautiful car.

Congratulations and good luck. Enjoy it.

Did you pay extra for the 6/100,00 warranty?

I went to the Audi Site and they only offer 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first, new vehicle limited warranty.

You got a hell of a deal!

And yes I agree that is a Beast! 4.2 40 Valve V-8 DAMN!

Good luck and have fun!
Hope you don't have a lead foot like me or your in for it.

gee, not very original 3putt...I traded my TL for a 2005 Avant and am getting it tomorrow...hehe

2300 mile dealer car

First thing I'm gonna do is fill the back end up at Costco; it's 75 miles one way and it will be nice to haul a bunch of stuff home for a change.

Certified pre-owned cars get a longer warranty. The only caveat is the time starts from the original in-service date.

Cheers,

Don

I drove my friend's S4 yesterday and can confirm that is awesome. Love that big V8 power. The AWD gives a great feeling of confidence. It pulls effortlessly from way down low and the paddle shift is a lot of fun. I wish the TL had the paddle shift. I thought I would hate to get back in the TL. But I still love the TL. Of course, I'd trade for an S4 in a minute if I had the chance.

as much as i want to get the 06, the deal for the 2005 CPO was very very good. plus, with the CPO, i get the 6year/100,000 mile warranty, the 4 year free service. on top of that deal, i also do not have to pay for the gas guzzler tax ($1700) since it was paid already by the 1st owner. the 2006 S4 is really not that different from the 05. the major difference is the body. almost everything underneathe is the same. even the 2006 navigation can fit into the 05 as a plug n' play mod.

The grill changed on the 2005.5 model (I just learned that since getting my early 2005 s4 avant last week).
I picked the car up last night and went and filled up the back end at Costco. I love the thing. The new grill is slowly growing on me but I still like the older one on my car better.

I love the new grill. It's those wimpy tail lights that have to go. Makes the back of the car look smaller.

just curious. after you get your car, hold your rpm around 2500-2800 range to see if you notice any strange vibrations. in neutral of course.

I personally like the 05 Gen A4 more than the new Gen A4. I just don't like the rear of the new A4. But goodluck in your new S4 as that car is freaken fast!!! Be sure to keep us posted in comparison and don't forget to post some pics up for us.
