Thinking about creating the chinese TL taillights or possibly another custom combination. Curious if anyone would be interested if I was to do so. With the combination of the factory red tails and the type s tails I would be able to create many different custom appearences. All of this is pending on the successful removal and re-install of the outer lenses which are not siliconed in like the headlamps. The tails are plastic welded together. If it works well, I will go through the steps needed with the moderators to become a vendor here if people were interested in some custom/modded tails. Post replies with any questions or comments and please let me know if there is any interest.

They would like the chinese tails or there could be multiple combos. Different housing colors, different lens colors. I am not good with photoshop so I cant mod any photos.

 

So is it a totally different fabrication? Hence...like those altezza type but NOT too ricey?

 

Here's what i want:

The "black chrome" housing of the Tl-S tails, with the WHITE chinese LED boards (LEDS glow red I assume).

That would super hot on WDP.

I'm assuming you mean the TL-S housing, Chinese turn signal (clear cover, bulb of your choice), and TL LED boards (white cover, glows red). If so, I also thought of this one a while back and thought it would look great on WDP.

 

WDP owner here. and i am also down for a group buy of this color set up. Dont really like how the type s look on WDP.

 

You been watchin me today Chilly? Those TL-S housing have been eating at me all day. Fortunately....AofE was out of em on ebay....so I quit looking....so dont go and tell me now that I can get em from XYZ cause they have em....or I am likely to be sidetracked again!

so the lenses where the LEDs are, are not part of the LED housing? they are part of the taillight housing? bummer

 

Slammed - I'm with you...not feeling the TL-S tails on WDP...looks great on NBP and AM, but not WDP.

Mike - I believe Tim @ HondaAcuraWorld can get you a set...and Scott at AofE will put you on a list as SteveP66 said...there's no excuse if you want them .

 

The tails themselves would be made of all OEM parts. Basically just taking OEM 04-06 all red tails and type s tails, gutting them and putting them back together using a different combination of pieces. Also the lenses behind the red tails are all clear, so you could do an all clear tail. The housing on the red tails is chrome. So the housing choices would be Chrome, Black Chrome, or Custom (Matte Black or Body Colored to your Car). The lens colors would very between all red, all clear, all smoked or a combo. Also we could do the corner lenses in a transparent orange paint for the JDM Amber look.

 

Also to my knowledge the LED boards light up Red.

 

I love the look of the new side markers (smoked) they match the fronts perfectly. The tail lights I think also look fantastic on Alabaster Silver Metallic - something about the silver chrome coloring on them looks great.

Well guys...it worked until now....I just thought about it again! This stuff is like crack or something! Modding is a definate addictive habit! Damnit! And I am like a crack whore running the streets thinking about parts....

 

How difficult is it to open the TL-S tails? I have a set that I haven't installed yet because I'm out of the country, and before you made this post I was thinking about clearing the turn signal part of the tail. But, you stated that you can't open them up like the headlights because they're not siliconed. So how do you plan on opening the tails?

 

I am actually going to cut the housing open and reseal it. The only way you can clear the turn signal without seeing the chrome housing is the take apart the factory red tails and use the clear turn signal lens in the type s housing.

 

I will be cutting one open today and resealing it to see how it goes.

OK. This is the Chrome on Clear that Kennedy asked for. I need a set of Type S housings to finalize it but this is what the all clear on chrome looks like.

That is one combo that can be done. Chrome housing, Red Brakes, Red Reflector, Clear turn signal lens with amber bulb. Also to match the Type S rear sidemarkers can be cut open and modified like the front ones. (remove the red LEDs and replace with Amber LEDs)

 

That looks tight! What did you use to cut them open and how? What did you use to re-seal it?

Guys...he is not likely to give you do it yourself instructions.....he is selling a product/proposing a product I guess would be better wording....would that not kind of defeat the purpose? Just a comment/thought.

looks good, but you will need to buy type-s lenses and TL-P LED clusters. won't be cheap for this mod.

 

04/06 LED brake bars are probably the same ones found in the 07 Base tails.

Really anxious to see how the re-welded housing would come out.

 

A few people are showing some interest, so I will get a set of type s tails so I can finish the job. Regarding the LED clusters, to my knowledge the LEDs are red on all tails. I believe someone posted that they where red atleast on the 04-06 tails. So basically to do the mod I need a set of type s tails and a set of stock tails. To reduce cost as much as possible I would do a core charge on stock tails to supply myself the clear materials. Final cost would be the cost of the type s tails + labor and materials if anyone wanted anything smoked or amber. Amber or red bulbs for clear turn signals can also be supplied. Labor costs won't be anything rediculous, I more or less am trying to do something for the TL community that I have learned how to do. Giving people another option to make thier 3G TL different than the next guy.
