Does the TL have any level of tint built into the glass? Like if I put 30% on will it really be 33% with a tint meter? The reason I ask is because my Acura Legend had some built in.

 

It has some in the factory glass but all reputable tint shops will tell you if it will pass your law or not (if that's your concern). They have reinstated here in GA and I received a referral to a shop here in Atlanta. I was told that they are held accountable if you are stopped and less than the law. I went with 30% and couldn't be more pleased. I'll gets some pics tomorrow and let u see. I do have the Taupe interior with CBP ext. It blends well though with the darker outer.

 

I do my own tint installs I just want to make sure to get the right percentage. Does anyone know what the factory % is?

 

Hello ScorpioNAtl, I was wondering how much you paid and what was the name of the store you went to? I live near Atlanta and just bought a RRP 06 TL and need my windows tinted. I would like 30%. Did you do that all the way around? Thanks for any info.

 

factory tint is 93%

35tint = 28tint

 

Got my tint from the same shop the dealership takes theirs to. I asked for "legal" but I knew nothing about factory windows being pre-tinted. No problems with the law but I have to take it to the hood for inspections.

 

With tint laws in the US, chances are if you are putting aftermarket tint on your car, it will make it illegal.

^yea i had 18% installed and it read 13% on the official po-po's gun thingy.

 

Roger, the legal limit here in NC is 32.0% all around.

I got 35% put on the TL and it meters exactly 32.0% on the nose.

 

any pictures of 50% tint on TLs? kinda off topic but its the legal limit in most states. also i kept reading that moleskin is necessary for tint on TLs to prevent scratching..

 

Yes, I'd go with moleskin to protect the tint. Seems the rubber window blade is a bit tight. You may get some glue residue from the moleskin, but it comes right off with Goo Gone and after a while the glue will stop streaking. BTW, the legal limit in FL is 35%. I had 20% on my old TL-S.

moleskin is a felt strip that the tint shop should install when you get the windows tinted....this is so the film doesnt get scratched on the inside when the window does up and down
