ez pass

Does the 2004 TL have a metallic oxide windshield; that would require an outside mounted EZ-Pass. Thanks!!!

Mine is mounted inside between the rear-mirror and the windshield - no problems

If you don't mind holding it up to the windshield, you don't really need to mount it at all. And if the TL's windshield does block the signal, you can always just stick the pass up through the open moonroof!

"Outside-mounted EZPass" sounds to me like the precursor of "stolen EZPass."

Exclamation

I put right behind the rear-view mirror, adherent to the windshield where has a pattern of dots.

NO one would see it, and works great.

Before I got a new set of ezpass velcro strips, I just put the ezpass on the dash as I drove through the toll plaza. The texture of the TL's dash actually grabbed it pretty well, and it stayed put even when accelerating.

Pug - thanks, that's good to know! I'm adding "try EZPass sitting on dash" to the list of things I can't wait to do when I get my TL this weekend!

I do the same with my FasTrak bridge toll payment transponder here in the SF Bay Area. I just put it in one of the little compartments underneath the head unit and pull it out when I need to cross the toll plaza.

I kind of wonder if I can just leave it in the compartment and still have it pick up.

Thanks to all; I'll either stick it behind the mirror or pull it out when I need it.

Are you still talking about your EZPass?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Pug,

Where did you get your new set of ezpass velcro strips? I just went out and bought some velcro from home depot, and it doesn't adhere to the window all that well.

Before you glue velcro strips to your windshield, Pep Boys sells a bracket type rig for $5 that attaches to the windshield with suction cups. You slide the toll pass in until it locks, then stick it to the glass behind your mirror. Makes it easily transportable to another car without leaving anything permanently glued to your new car.

I called the EZpass service center, and they mailed them to me (n/c).

ez pass

I've had an interior ezpass tag for four years and never had any issues. When I got my "04 TL I placed the tag behind the rear view mirror just below the dot pattern and began experiencing problems. At every toll plaza the reader took several seconds "after" coming to a complete stop to register. At some tolls the tag was never recognized. I called the ezpass service center in S.I. and they replaced it with an exterior tag. Problem with tag recognition solved. The toll display registers immediately again as I approach the reader. I'm not sure what caused the problem. The tag had just been replaced three months ago and was working fine. I also tried using the tag from my wife's car and it too experienced slow response times.

I put between mirror and windowshield and have no problem using on NJ turnpike everyday, even at "Super EZ Pass" driving at 65mph.
I had EZ Pass bracket using suction cups but it was terrible! The suction cups get so har in the winder and fell off many times.

I have one behind the dots, and no problem what so ever?
