Extended Warranty....florida
Just moved down to Orlando and was wondering if anyone has had any luck in getting the acuracare warranty for anything less then 2500.00(5 year, 84,000). I am bieng told since florida regulates the insurnace market, no dealer can vary the price.
So all florida residents get screwed and have to pay MSRP(dealers must love this law). Curryacura states they will not sell to anyone in florida.
Anyone have ideas? Thanks.

That sounds ridiculous to me. You get 4 years for free and you're being told you have topay another $2500 for one additional year and 34k additional miles? I would tell them to take their extended warranty and shove it.
Go to a credit union and purchase an extended warranty if you really think you need it.

Thanks for the reply.
The warranty is additional, so it will cover me until 2011 or 108000 miles total. Looked at all the other warranties(credit unions and such) and none of them coverage the nav or bluetooth, which would be some of the most costly to replace.

Now as much as I do not like extended warranties. If you are buying a car with many features on it they can surely add up if they need some repairs. One reason why too many hardly used features, while cool can cost down the line.
An engine and tranny should last 100,000+ if properly maintained and not abused. The rest of the items however, who knows.
If we are going to see an additional cost of like 2500 maybe it is time to start thinking about trading the car at 49K. If you do about 15,000 a year on the car, then you ought to get just over 3 years. Then the car (while within the 50K warrantly) can become an acura certified used vehicle and would get top trade value. Put that addtional 2500 in a cd or something and put it down on the new car.
Let's face it if the car ticks over 100/108K and the navi or blue tooth give out you are paying for the repair anyway. And, the car is not worth much to anyone at that point.
That was the reason for getting rid of my 2G. I was looking brakes, tuneup, timing belt, and what about the tranny!!! I was not going to enjoy putting like 6-7k into the car and not have it worth that much in resale.
People who want to keep cars for the long haul should probably get them with the basic features which nowadays is of course, typically plenty for the daily commute. Since in reality you are paying 2500 to replace or repair those items. We all expect the car to have no problems with the engine and tranny..
