expectations...

Hi Guys:

Been wanting to get a TL for a few months now, but I've been reading/hearing that the TL with navi is tough to get a good deal on. So I test drove an accord v6 ex with navi in hopes that I can get a cheaper version of TL (ho offense to accord owners).

I didn't feel the power much on the v6 and i tried pushing it. Perhaps because i with 2 other person in the car. The interior is pretty nice, I really like the voice activated navi. I'm not sure if I can change stations with voice, cause i didn't know any commands... except for "Find the nearest chinese restaurant".

So interior i was pretty happy with, as for the exterior I thought the tires were too small. Over all it was a pretty nice ride. So my question is, why i finally get a chance to test drive a TL, will even be more plesantly surprised by its power ? I'm sure the interior will even be better. Thanks to this forum, i've been learning alot about the TL.

My advice - Don't drive the 04TL unless you're ready to spend more $$$ ... Because you probably will ...

The one thing that stopped me from even looking at the Accord was its exterior. I find it to be butt-ugly. It looks like a damn egg - no personality, no really nice lines... just a generic vehicle. The interior is pretty nice though.

Agree with Rocketsfan. The new Accord is fugly. I asked my wife last year if she wanted to trade her '01 Accord, and she called the new one "not good looking", a stretch for a woman who doesn't care what she drives.

That aside, one argument you will see in these boards is whether the TL is worth several thousand dollars more than a top-of-the-line V6 Accord. For that money, you get a lot of tech features that I won't recount here, a tighter chassis, and despite the added weight compared to the Accord, you WILL feel the power in the seat of your pants, especially at higher RPMs.

I have An Accord EX (no nav-so maybe I shouldn't say this) and got a TL/Nav yesterday. In my opinion, TL is so much better. I advise you to send out email to every single Acura dealer in your state (well, at least in your area). Go to Acura.com, enter your zipcode, and send out email to about 15 dealers. Enter the asking price low to begin with. This is how I found that NJ dealer.

Good luck!

Meeh, I test drove the Accord EX V6 Navi and decided it was not even as nice as my '02 TL. The '04 TL is in another class. Get the Navi '04TL you will love it.

The 03 Accord is an excellent seller for two reasons:

- Honda has nailed interior ergonomics. People fall in love with the intereor design... think about it: At $21,500 (base Accord), you get an interior that outshines a G35 that can go as high as $40k.
- V6 Power option for those who are cross shopping American powered sedans.
- Honda perceived and historical quality
- Accord brand equity

I think these 4 aspects blind people to the stunning ugliness of the skin (esp the sedan). It actually looks like a bad clone of itself.

- The jack-o-lantern headlights look like they were ripped from a car twice the size of the Accord and slapped on.
- The tail lights look like their dripping off the car. It looks like Honda put them on upside-down!
- The profile of the sedan is passable -- if not bloated -- and would suffice if the front and the rear weren't unabated design distasters.
- The profile of the coupe is just weird. It looks like a teardrop or Mr. Hanky (the Christmas Poo) -- depending on your knowledge of the TV show South Park.

I will grant that the tail lights of the coupe are awesome... just awesome. Every time I'm behind one, I think I'm behind an SLK.... until I pass the car and then see Mr. Hanky emerge.

(off-topic: IMAGINE if the 04TL had a variation of the Accord Coupe taillights?!?!)

Overall, though, Honda has blessed the Accord so much with so much that even a design collision of mass destruction can't derail its success. Iimpressive.

Thanks for all the reply. When emailing the Acura dealers what's a good price that I should indicate? I want a AT with Navi.

The price I got was $32900. I don't think you should go higher than $33800. But, these values are based on east cost standards.
