Engine Services @45,000 miles

What engine services do you think should be done at 45,000? I assume the standard Tran fluid flush, coolant flush, and maybe brake fluid flush, also cabin filter. What else do you suggest?

I didn't know this, but the minder doesn't tell you what is due until the oil level is at 15%... I never let mine get below 20 so I have never seen the minders.

Acura dealership quoted me about $550 for all of the above including 2-3 hours labor and a loaner. Worth it or worth taking it to someone else i.e. non-dealer?

Thanks...

Weird, but I just had all 3 of those done last week at 40k

I cost me $235 + tax at a local honda/acura specialist

Only thing I didn't do was cabin filter, which I changed myself a few months ago. I would have done the Tranny myself if I had my ramps, but my friend kinda stole them.....

If you reset the the MID prior to 15% oil life, you will get a Service Due message if any services are about due. Check out THIS thread for details.

Gotcha...

I would do it no worries for $235... $550 seems a little steep but it is the dealership..

I heard the cabin fiilter was like $45...

Yeah... thats what I thought... But I have NEVER gotten a service minder for anything and I have 45k... I always reset the minder at 20% oil when I change out the oil...

The dude at the dealership is the one who told me that if I do that, I will never see the minders...

I bought the cabin filter at the dealer for $26, only becuase the Kragen near me was out. But they are $19.99 there. Takes maybe 30minutes the first time. But you've taken the dash apart before, so you'll be fine.

But yeah $550 is pretty high. Just find a reptuable independent shop to do the work.

So I called a shop I have used in the past...

Tran Flush
Coolant Flush
Brake Flush
Cabin Filter ($22)
Clean my Intake Filter

And he is saying to do an ERG - its that bottle of shit they hook up and blow through the engine to get all the carbon out.. He stated that the CL and TL has little small valves (he used some other term too but I already forgot) and that they get gunked up very easily... I did this to my old Integra at like 100k and it helped... Thoughts?

Oh and all that shit for $575...

well the last 2 you could do by yourself if they are charging you labor hr's on those.

I dunno, I thought I go a pretty good deal on mine. I did haggle him down from $275.......I had just went to TJ the night before and perfected my Taco bargining skills

Yeah, got the AEM and I plan to change out the filter to the newer dry filter when I order it and I just placed the order for the cabin filter so that should be good to go...

Nice to be able to hit the site again from work... NMCI blows my goat...

Sweet... does it have a dry or wet filter

Yeah man... when I switched jobs NMCI blocked Azine for some reason. I finally convinced them to grant access again... cost me hockey tickets and a case of beer but fuck it...

Looked like a mesh grill with a dry filter inside. I like the inverted cone design. you can sorta see it here:
