Hello, I have a 2007 TL Type S. I'm currently having trouble figuring out why the car is running lean. I performed a vacuum smoke test and noticed the EGR valve letting smoke out. I replaced that and no luck. I have read some threads on here saying that this could be caused by the valves needing a adjustment. I did a data log for the car maybe someone experianced could take a look at it and give there two cents before I keep throwing parts at this car... Thank you guys in advance!
Hi Chad thank you so much for responding. The car did have a CEL light but I had to disconnect the battery to work on it and the light cleared. It was throwing P0171 and P0174 but ever since the reset it has not thrown them.
Hi Chad, I ended up taking it to the mechanic. They did a valve adjustment and reprogramed the ecu. They put new gaskets on everything and car is running normal now!
I wonder if they were truthful about the miles... Because these cars do not really burn lean at 70 to 80,000 miles because it needs a valve adjustment.. and I've never heard of a reprogramming at the stock level, that changes the way it burns fuel. That's only for aftermarket v8's who change their cams and stuff. =)
I wouldn’t be surprised if they lied about mileage, but this engine works a lot better than a hydro locked one . I correct myself it was a sensor/module relearn. They also replaced pcv valve
