Engine light stays(whoops)

Engine light stays(whoops)

Well me and my friends are out in the town pushing the car to about 120 frequently and all of a sudden the engine light comes on and stays (rather then flashing and going away)just wanted everyones .02 on whether Acura will give me a new TL or just fix the engine

hahahaha...probably just fix the engine. however, the first thing to do is tighten the gas cap. mine came on a few days ago, and when i was filling up on gas before going to the dealer, the light went off.

Adam is right, that's one of the factors which could cause the problem, the light may go off after a period of time. Follow your service manual, and make sure you do what it says.

BTW, does your check engine light take place in particular RPM? or speed?


What is your VIN#? Some early built 04TL requires to upload the new ECU software...

if you were redlining the car alot, it will do that.. shoudl turn off after a few minutes of normal driving.

It's amazing, isn't it?
Somebody puts up a note about disconnecting the seat belt warning buzzer and they get the "Do-Gooder Routine."

Did you have the computer updated since you picked up your car?

There is a TSB from Acura to reprogram the computer on cars under vin 12XXX due to it sensing a mis-fire incorrectly (too sensitive).

Most had this happen when the car is held in SS mode over 5k rpms, but not only cause.

Should be quick fix.
