Engine light flashed during highway run
my TL has around 2200 KM on it...i drove it on the highway today for an hour. i was doing 120km/h in 5th gear. i shiftedit to 4 and then 3.....the engine was doing about 5k rpm.....but then...1 second later, the engine lite flashed!! then i shifted it back to 5...few seconds later the flash was gone..........has anyone encounter that??? was that normal??

I have had this happen two times, both surrounding the events you described. When I took it into the dealer (for other items) I had mentioned this. The initial reaction from the service guy was, "WHAT!? You shifted this car into third gear and had the RPMs up to 5k with only 1200 miles on your car!?" Needless to say that when I picked up my car, the service technician had stated that there were NO codes in the computer stating the light had flashed. He was trying to dumb this down by asking, "Are you sure it wasn't the traction light that came on? You know, the one with the exclamation point in the triangle?" And then it was, "well, did it flash or did it stay on?" Mine only flashed for five or so seconds and then went off. You might get yours checked, though. During the same service, they had replaced my battery, and my hunch is that it may have been possible for the computer to lose the codes when they swapped out the battery. The service techs swear up and down that the battery was the last thing that they replaced, but I don't think so (considering I never said anything about a bad battery--I was just having some intermittent issues with the car starting). It has happened a couple times since I've had it back, but I will hold off until the next time I am in there, or if it comes back more frequently I will be in sooner.
There was also some initial commentary on this board dealing with the crank angle sensor problems. You may want to do a search and see what you can find.

Re: Engine light flashed during highway run
Have you guys searched "check engine light" or "MIL" issues on this forum yet?
My car had this problem since 1k mile, and the MIL (check engine light) kept flashing while I revved over 5K by 2nd or 3rd gear. It would come off after I slowed down. Lots of ppl have replaced their crankshaft sensor, coil pack, or update software. The most common reason is "misfire".
My dealer wouldn't be able to detect and figure out what's going on a month ago, but they seemed to get some tech letters from Acura engineers last week, then had my car update software yesterday. My TL apparently won't flash MIL anymore during over-5k RPM driving.

Out of curiosity, is your VIN under 12000(US models)?
In case they keep giving you the false info, the print-out of all these conversations may help. At least, they should call to Acura engineers...
