Engine Cover Feeler

Was surfing around a RSX forum and got the idea from a valve cover someone has made.

I know its one of those things that some people will like and others wont.
Doing it mainly as a "nostalgic" reminder of what our cars have come from.

And before anyone jumps all over me with the "its a usdm car...not made in japan" read again the line above this..Its not just about this car, but the long line of acuras/hondas before the TL.

Enough yappin...here is what i got planned.

The Japan Rising Sun Flag using the oil cap as the sun, and painting on the rays...
Like it or not...im kinda digging the idea, and photochop...and after all, if i dont like it a quick sanding and a new coat of bronze and im back to normal.

Let me know

It's pretty cool looking, but it's not for me...I'm still hoping someone will fill the void left behind by Michael Benz's ban and make a new CF engine cover.

Thanks, like i said...not for all.

And some people have had CF covers made...one person even has every engine cover in CF.

As with many mods, they may not be for me, but I still think they're great. This one is pretty cool as well. It would definitely have to go along with the paint scheme of the car however.

Have fun with it - like you said, another few coats of paint and you're back to normal...

I like it. It's creative and neatly done.

That said, I don't know that I'd do it to mine, but I could where some would not only find it attractive, but take the time to do the work.

As a side note: I don't know how many of you have seen an original style, life size (say 4' x 6') "Rising Sun" flag up close and in person, but I can tell you, the symbology is SUPER aggressive.

well said
Even though im not going for the "in your face" red over white. Im keeping it subtle with black on bronze. Again another symbol of honda/acura past history showing through on the TL.

Yea i sanded down the engine bay covers to make sure i got ride of all the dirt and grime...gave them 3 coats of a flat black engine paint. Engine cover itself is a wheel paint.
On the engine cover i sanded that...applied 2 coats, wet sanded, applied two more coats...let sit. A few days of the engine heating it gives a glossy apperence

Very nice. I really think the way the covers are painted definitely brings the engine cover out more. Especcially if you decide on doing the rising sun cover, that will make things a little more "abstract" for lack of a better word and make it look cleaner

This weekend, I'll do every cover and maybe do a different shade engine cover.

Awesome setup.

Truthfully i havnt noticed anything...but i also havnt looked. I need to give my engine bay a good cleaning soon..i doubt there is though. That rubber seal is very "rubbery" so IMO it would roll on itself before it would scuff up the panel. Even if there is a rubbing spot...5 min and a couple passes of a rattle can fixes it.

One spot i do have some wear at is where the hood dampers sit when hood is closed. While im on hood damper...why the hell is there a warning in Arabic on it???

Haha..damn I keeping coming to this thread to at your pics haha

You know what else I've seen, that I really like? You could take the top cover off where the bar is(Front sway bar is it? or strut bar?), and paint that bronze as well? IDK if taht will be overkill, but should look pretty good imo.

Now I have to decide what color theme I want to go with for the engine bay...hmmm

My strut bar is MIA ever since i got my TeinSS. EDFC motors dont allow for the closed end that mount to the top of the struts to fit. Im gonna take a look at it this weekend as well to do some work with a dremel. Im tired of there being a empty spot were something was at one point.

This pic just for you BALLINFIZZ

The oil cap will be getting some Type-S red for the lettering [5w-20]. Wanna keep it black to flow with the sun rays. Coil pack covers will also become bronze.

that'll look good........you should bring the black sun rays down into the cubby hole where the oil cap is.......you know to continue the lines. just an opinion.......either way it looks great....

Probably a while, the way he did it, with crazy preperation. When I did mine, it took about an hour, maybe a little more. The engine covers come off way easy, but you probably already know that. I dont know if you remember the red I did, but its on perfect and it looks really good, I'd just rather do something else now, something more classier?

At the moment I don't have my engine cover on. I might def have to consider putting her on and coming up with a creative paint scheme!

Red and gold are too flashy...I'm looking for stealth...bronze sticks out very little and has a nice contrast...subtle...know what I mean Ball-to-da-fizzle?

Yeah I know. The black/bronze is hot, I could never have thought of that on my own. I'm just not the artistic type. I want something different than the typical typical painted cover. Something that when you open the hood, it's just eye catching ya know? I just can't wait till winter is over then the real modding will begin!

Haha exactly why im changing up.. The only this is that the red matches my brakes.
Copper and black?

Hmmm...I resemble that remark...you may have a point...let me check this out!

Ok...I checked...I want Bronze! LOL! Bronze will provide more of a contrast, gunmetal will probably not be so different as the rest of the stuff in the engine bay and get dirty faster and look, well, ordinary...

Paint it, it's very easy...that's why mine's flat black as opposed to silver.
