54 people checked out this thread...0 responded. I guess that's a "NO"?

I have, admittedly, bought a TL (my previous WDP 03 Type-S) from Ebay! A place in Cleveland. Flew from Dulles Airport in Va, and drove her back no prob! She was beautiful, too! Had no probs with her after I got it and it was still under warranty! I also bought a '93 Dodge Stealth and a '92 WDP Acura Legend off of Ebay! I still have the Legend! Aside from a few routine wear and tear items that had to be replaced, it runs like a charm! Good pick-up and clean!

Let me say this though, as with any used car purchase, CHECK OVER EVERYTHING! All extra parts and paperwork! I realized after I got back home from CLeveland picking up the TL-S, that there was no jack or wheel lock key in the friggin car!!!!! If a tire went out on one of those long dark ass roads, and there were many, my ass was grass!!! So do a check before you take off with it! And get a carfax BEFORE you bid on it!!!

Many of those auctions are by dealers with reserve prices and they are more or less as trustworthy transactions as if you walk right into their dealerships.

How many here have actually bought cars in auctions from private sellers? I Ebay a LOT, but I can never ever imagine PayPaling someone for a house or car I never seen. You know those unbelievable deals that look more like steals because of low/no reserve. How many of those cars are hitch-free perfect running cars?

No doubt not a lot Rocky. But a used car on a lot out of warranty, is the same as buying it on ebay. You can get the carfax and you can get an extended warranty on ebay. How many people here complain of getting fleeced by dealers? Quite a few. So a deal on the computer is the same as a deal on the street. Once you win, you only have to pay a deposit. The rest can be paid after you check it out. If the car looks markedly diferent than what was on auction, then you don't have to pay anything! Not a problem as far as I see it. As I said before...BS lurks everywhere! Whether on ebay or on a lot!

I watched the listings for a while, but found the inconvenience and price difference just didn't justify the gamble, as there were many WDP TL's available in my area, Acura.com, and AutoTrader.com. The big difference is that you are able to inspect the car on the lot, not so on eBay, unless you purchase a vehicle local. Give them a deposit, fly to the destination, inspect the car, and if it's not to your liking, fly home and the money is out the window. The best bet would be to pay an inspection company the $150 for a detailed report before laying out any money. Also, Carfax is only as good as what is reported to them. Naturally, if an accident isn't reported, it will not show on Carfax. Some eBay sellers have a tendency, as most do, to try and make the car actually better than it truly might be as pictures just don't tell the whole story because small defects cannot be seen.
Just remember, Buyer Beware.
