Ebay Bulbs, Bad Idea?

Was searching eBay due to boredom at work and stumbled upon...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/D2S-D...t_17525wt_1150

I am full aware of the term "You get what you pay for"
But can anyone tell me what's wrong with this, other than it's from eBay.

I would stick to namebrand. Phillips or sylvania. Xenon bulbs for $16. Yeah right. I see they offer a lifetime warranty, but you have to pay to ship them back for replacements. I can't imagine this being good at all.

They are not selling the whole kit, just the bulbs. So I guess if you already bought some HID kit and the bulb went out, it would be bad idea to buy a bulb for $16

Kevin, I've always purchased from V-Leds.com or AutoLumination.com-I've never bought lights from Ebay.

I got my 8000k HID bulbs from eBay, but they were $60. Cheaper than the big name brand stuff, but not $15. I would be worried about those going out or losing their color after a short amount of time.

Even though they are cheap, I checked the Seller Rating and they are off of the charts. Seems like they are legit.

Yeah, that's why I was thinking of giving them a shot. Heck $16 is pretty cheap for an experiment. But any issues with cheap bulbs F-ing up my ballast?

I would recommend avoiding. I bought a pair of xenon lights from ebay for my old car and replaced them twice within a year (had to pay for shipping also).

Need to find bulbs that match my LED turn signals, any thoughts?

XLR8 = $100
Anyone try that vendor on here: HIDExtra?

Whoops, sorry.
Just skimmed all the comments for negative or positive thoughts.

Anyone else want to second HIDExtra?

get philips or Osram. Both are OEM in hid equipped cars. Ebay bulbs are made in china and sometime the bulbs aren't even straight. They run hot and sooner or later will bulb the chrome off your projectors. Trust me, I see these tread all the time on HIDplanet and we just bash it to death. just like PnP kits.

OEM Or nothing

Alright thanks for all the input.
Sorry for the thread. But I will admit, I almost bought a pair.
AZine comes through again, knocking sense into one OP at a time.

Mods- Please close thread.

Dunno if mods close threads unless its a sale/wtt/wtb listing or someone is flaming

Anyways, Kaixen or Phillips. DO NOT BUY OEM HID BULB. Kaixen and Phillips bulbs both produced in Germany. Can't go wrong either one.

I wondered a long time about cheap bulbs too. Back in 2003 I had a nice Hella kit on my old BMW and paid $400 for it. I used just for a year and when I sold the car I removed it. It never worked again, the ballast was bust.

Around that time I asked a friend who owns an accessory shop about cheap bulbs. He told me he sells and installs no name brand bulbs all the time. He told me the failure rates are similar to the name brand ones. He said the quality was really good with name brand but they are not bad with the no-name, they are decent quality.

I went ahead and bought 8000K Ebay ones 3 yrs ago. The result? Working 100%. I did my Accord fogs with the same bulbs. 100% no problem. That's my experience, no regrets.

Those bulbs in that auction are the same brand I have, it is the most popular no-name brand you will find on Ebay (HID is written in rainbow letters). I payed $35/pair back then and thought it was a bargain. $15/pair is halogen prices, what do you have to lose? I feel like buying a set of 3000k just for the hell of it, lol.

Curse you rockyfeller, I read a lot of your threads. Primarily the headlights, angel eye ones.
You seem to be a valued and experienced member.

Now, I may have to change my mind once again. My gut says eBay is a coin flip. But I also don't know if I can justify $100 to color match my LED turn signals.

I realize I'm starting to sound like a cheap-ass but perhaps I can find moderately priced Kaixen and Phillips bulbs? Where can I find Kaixen and Phillips bulbs? What namebrand does HIDExtra provide?

Thanks in advance for any helpful information.

My fault. I did a quick glance and noticed specialized in BMW. Thought it was pearly BMW.
After navigating, found the d2s bulbs.
So to me... double

haha partially my bad too, I shouldve given the direct link to the HID bulbs. they do specialize in bmws when it comes to parts, but their main focus is in lights and HIDs for all makes and models. bunch of my friends and I buy from them, and I haven't heard any complaints with the products nor had any myself. I have heard they have poor customer service, but I live locally to them so I don't have to deal with them through emails etc. so I can't really tell you how the service is if ur not in san Diego. hope this helps

just get a pair of osram or philips for 50 shipped. They turn up from time to time.

also using ebay bulbs will alter your beam pattern. The reason being is that some bulbs are not completely straight. check hidplanet.net. There are a few comparison.

Hey everyone,

Just checking back in but I also have another question.
I went with 8K bulbs from HIDExtra (light vendor on here).
I purchased 8K bulbs in efforts to color match to my LED turn singals.

They work? I guess. But I don't see a significant color difference. I do see a little difference but not as I imagined. They sort of look like my 4300 OEM bulbs really.

Anyone?

With 8000k you should see more blue than anything. Maybe they have to be broken in?

The reason is that the KAIXEN bulbs that we sell were designed by German engineers and they incorporate better technology than the Chinese-based product. They have lower defect rates and better light output than any of the other brands we have ever sold.

I bought licensed plate LEDs and interior blue ones from MotoringMax on Ebay and the license plate ones are completely dead within 2 weeks and the rear courtesy lights are half out.

I have to second the good opinion on DDMTuning.com. I have purchased two sets of HIDs with ballasts and harnesses. Their prices were good, shipping was fast and they have a lifetime warranty. I recommend these guys.
I posted a question to the HIDExtra folks twice and never got a response. The DDM kits are cheaper and I am happy with them.

Just another check up.
When you look at the lights from outside the car they do not appear to be any different.
But I had my brother drive my car yesterday and I in his.

The color is differently different. They actually color match the LED turn signals. Looks
