Easy Fix for Center Console Rattle

Instead of driving with the upper console door open (the one below the stereo) or having the dealer replace the part. BTW I cringe at the thought of the dealer pullng my dash apart. I bought a hand towel placed it in the upper storage bin and rattle (buzzing) is now gone. This is assuming you don't need to put stuff in the bin. I know this isn't the best solution but hey it works and if I spill anything I've got a towel to wipe it up with.

Maybe there is something small in the bin and the towel keeps it from rattling.

John, I did check the bin and nothing is in it. Open the top bin and tap on the inside with your fingernail or hand and it's easy to see why it rattles. I agree we shouldn't have to fix this but personally, I don't want my center console pulled apart to address the issue.

I've had the center console rattle since about August or so (which sounds like multiple rattles, center console, glovebox, moon roof, passenger door, I guess due to the echo); it started 2 months after I got the car. So far my only fix has been to turn the stereo up. Ok, so last night my CD was finished playing and I didn't want to hear any others so I turned the radio on and that damn Eminem Mockingbird song was playing. I turned the radio off and decided I'd rather listen to my rattle than that crap. Then I remembered this thread so I decided, what the hell let me open up that little storage bin and see what happens. Sure enough the rattle totally disappeared! Closing it brought the rattle back. I'm gonna try the towel thing today; hopefully that'll make the rattle go away with the door closed. Good find golferboy. I can't believe I never even bothered to try it. Hopefully this will fix other peoples rattle as well.

This rattle freakn annoys me! and its very sensitive to a low amount of bass. A towel is a good temporary fix, anyone know if silicone spray would help or anything else??

I thought about the dynamat spray, and just apply it w/ a brush on the backside. If you get it done before me please post instructional pics too. maybe this can make it in the 3G garage
