Dwp - Rust

I have an 04 DWP TL 6MT and I have little specs of rust all over the car from the front wheels back, it is especially bad on the back of the trunk lid. I know that these little rust spots are actually bits iron from the brakes that get caught in the paint and then rust but it looks TERRIBLE (supposedly not actually hurting the car). I also know that it is easy enough to get out with a clay bar and some soapy water but I just hate it, so I have a couple of questions. The dealership says that this happens with all of the TLs just you don't notice it on any other color than DWP, is that true, if not what colors are you noticing it on? The dealership also says that they will not do the work for me so I am left to clay bar it myself (going to take FOREVER), anyone had the dealer do the work? If not, any recommendations on a particular product to use to get it off? Lastly, I will be replacing my front breaks real soon and was looking for a recommendation for brake pads that would have the same or better performance and not leave much break dust/ rust specs all over my car.

Thanks for the input.

I was washing my car and noticed the same thing.. (WDP) I think I'm just going to take my car to a good detail man. Do you wash your car often?

I wash my car about once a week with glove and soapy water and it doesn't seem to do anything to get those little specs off, it takes a clay bar. Those little bits must get caught in the paint and just stick.

Its called rail dust ( old term ) and cars used to get it from open rail transport but more common now fron plow blades etc.

Its not hard to remove .. most cars have it to some extent .. just hard to see on drarker cars ... if you think you don't have it .. wash your car and dry it then put a layer of Saran wrap over your hand and run it over the paint behind the front wheels and the back bumper.

Mothers makes a Clay bar kit and its easy to use .. there is a link to "Cleaning your Paint with Clay" in the dropdowns on my web site.

In reallity it doesn't take that long .. 2 hours at the most after washing .. just get an old piece of carpet and sit down beside it and go at it.

Do the sides and reat one day .. top panels another.

Washed, clay barred, and two coats of wax a couple of weeks ago. Took FOREVER with me and a buddy doing the whole car. It took 6 hours but it looks amazing! Claying the whole car took most of the time but I have never seen the car look this good. Thanks for the help fellas.
