DVD Audio Authoring w/ 2004 TL
Hi, first post. (I take delivery of a TL auto navi next week)
I read the entire dvd audio primer thread and was still left with the question... "Can I create a DVD Audio disc that has 5+ hours of CD quality music on it?" So I emailed the people who make Discwelder and they responded: "The DVD-A format is very flexible. You can put around 5 - 5 1/2 hours of CD quality (stereo 16/44.1) music on a DVD-A. All our discWelder products can accept 16/44.1 stereo wav/aiff files."
So it seems this is indeed possible and the only question is can the TL's player read DVD+/-R discs. Has anyone gotten this to work? I may be willing to fork over the $100 when discwelder bronze comes out and be a guinea pig

I have indeed gotten it to work with DVD-R/RW (don't have a +R/RW burner) and it's great. I can fit nearly as much CD quality audio on a DVD-A as I used to get on 2 320kbps MP3 CDs with my previous car.

That's the only one right now. They are coming out with a version that is $99 called DiscWelder Bronze. There are other DVD-A authoring packages out there, but Discwelder is the cheapest by far.
You can find it for less than the $500 list price. When I bought it in December it was on sale for "only" $350.
I've always liked listening to my own (tapes then CDs then MP3 CDs now DVD-As) compilations over the radio, so for me it is great. Certainly the $99 version will be more palatable to a lot more people.

Doh. Well, I wonder how you can scroll up to those higher number tracks without hitting your button a million times. Sometimes I wish Acura made the knob on the right side the track forward/back knob.

Yeah, A quick search on google does not yield much. However I found some Japanese software here:

If you 'tool' around with the menus and such there’s a 30 evaluation download which I'm attempting to get now. However there’s a section that you have to fill out some things like email addresses, and other check boxes. My Japanese is real rusty, but I faked it.

Polite. "CD Play 65, please."
Sweet. "You look beautiful in blue. CD Play 65 for me."
Threatening. "CD Play 65 or it's 87 octane for you!"
(Possibly broken) Romantic French. "Ma belle voiture bleue, voie 65 de jeu si vous plez."
None of it worked.
