Dual-Stage unlock question

Ok, I really like the autolock feature but I also don't want to feel like I am trapping my passengers in. So I turn on the "Shift to P" to unlock the doors, only problem is that I have it set to "Unlock All Doors" to get the desired effect. Now when I have this setup, I lose my dual-stage unlock. Am I missing something?

You're not missing anything. The automatic door lock feature is dependent on the way you have your keyfob unlock programmed, and there is no way to change it.

Another missed opportunity by Acura to let us think for ourselves.

You can set the MID so that either only the driver's door opens, or all four doors open, when you unlock with the keyfob remote.

Unlocking only the driver's door is a good safety feature to prevent someone lurking on the other side of the car to open the passenger door and jump in and do who knows what?

I learn something new about my TL today. I did not know about programming the key fob to unlock all doors with a single press of the unlock button. I know if you pressed the unlock twice on the key fob that it would unlock all doors.

To make sure I understand the issue, if you setup via MID for the key fob to unlock all doors with a single press of the button, you lose the auto lock feature after the desired time has elapsed?

no I think you just have to make sure the MID is still set to the previous time you picked.

Is that really a big deal... I mean I can live with the way it is...

Have them fix some of the other issues...

the one thing I did just realized is that if you set it to unlock only the driver door, that is the only door that will unlock when you shut the car off.

I guess Ill just have to change it back....

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I prefer to have to press the fob twice to unlock all four doors, but I also want to unlock all the doors when I stop the car. As it is, my passengers often try to escape before I can press the unlock button on the door and they get trapped because it won't unlock if they're pulling the door handle. Luckily, I seldom have passengers and those that I do have are used to having to wait a moment.

I have impatient passengers trying to get out of the car even before car stops.

When I reach for power unlock button, they are already pulling on the door opener and jams unlock process...
