I knowticed that whenever i put the car into reverse, the mirror moves down, but when i put her into drive, the mirror moves back into the original position. I have a 07 TL 5AT.

 

So do you have a question??? If your asking if your car is operating correctly it is. That's how it's supposed to work.

It does that to help you see the parking spot lines /curb when you're backing up.

It only does it when you have the mirror switch in the driver side position, the passenger side mirror will do the same thing if the switch is on the passenger side position too.

 

So you can look down the curb. if you switch to left mirror adjust, your left mirror will do the same as driver.

 

In China - your theory might work. Here in the US - if you move the switch to the left, it IS the drivers side mirror. But if you move it to the right, it does it too.

The first time you have to back up to a curb - you will wonder how you lived without this. Think of it as new-age curb feelers
