So I'm getting my 2004 Acura TL (210k KM)'s timing belt replaced at the local honda dealer today.. they mentioned the water pump/tensioner replacement as well and I agreed to that...

THen the service advisor recommended drive belt(I said cool) and AC Belt(not sure if this is needed) changed as well, he wont charge me additional labour.
How often should these Drive Belt/AC Belt be changed?
A complete job is around 1100CAD

 

The timing belt job is the expensive part. The drive belt is cheap and takes a few minutes to change.

Regarding the frequency, it's hard to say. When needed comes to mind. There's not a specific interval. The MID pops up with a 2 every once in a while to inspect and change if necessary.

 

While doing the timing belt service, it's a no-brainer to do the waterpump and the front main seal while you are there. The accessory belt (AC/power steering, etc) should also be replaced at the same time along with the idler pullies, bolts, new gaskets, new spark plugs, a coolant flush among some other things.

If the car is running rough or the valves are noisy, a valve adjustment is also a good thing to get done.

 

find another dealer, the honest ones will include the drive belts with the timing belt.. most will quote a timing belt tensioner as well. to answer your question though, drive belts are done with the timing belt.
