The dreaded finally occurred...
So last Tuesday while sitting at a red light, I was rear-ended in my 2004 NBP TL. I got the final determination by the insurance company today and they've declared my beautiful baby....TOTALED.
I can't say I'm surprised, based on the impact and damage to the car but I will miss my beloved terribly. She was my dream car and I put my all into keeping her in tip-top shape. Very sad day.

No doubt someone texting while driving. Sorry for your loss- hope you didn't get injured- that looks like a pretty solid hit with extensive damage.

thats where the navigation drive is....if you have navigation, then thats couple thousand extra in damages for a new dvd drive and maybe electrical wiring damage. no surprise its totaled. good luck finding a new car!

Thanks everyone; I am feeling good but do have some minor medical follow up to take care of. As many of you mentioned, it was a pretty solid impact and I'm pretty sure the guy was texting while driving or distracted in some way.
I've been looking at the ILX, went and test drove the 2014 Tech version last weekend and I'm going tomorrow to see if I can work out a lease deal. I've never leased a car before, but I figure it'll keep my payments low since I was nearly done paying off the TL and wasn't anticipating another payment.
I like the ILX and surprised by what it offers for the price, anyone have opinions on it or advice?
Thanks!

I haven't driven the ILX but expect it to be somewhat gutless compared to the TL based on the drivetrain options. It has some cool features but don't expect it to be a performance vehicle.

Your payments will be low because your renting it. If you can write it off as a business expense OK but otherwise a lease is bad financially

ILX is basically a Civic SI but with a softer suspension and a lot more tech... IMO

I think it would be a better buy at a lower price point (maybe $26K or so)- I wasn't loving it at first but like it more now, but if it's > $30K, it's a bit overpriced.

Sorry to see that happen. Hope you are though. This reminds me when my car got hit in front of my house by some teenage chick with a neon. Her excuse was that there was a bug on her windshield...what a joke...

Wow, sorry to see this. I'm glad you're OK, but it puts a damper on the holiday weekend, for sure.

It occurred on Portion Road in Ronkonkoma/Holbrook. 5 minutes from home!

Yes mine was repairable. It was a total of $11,400 to repair. At the time I wished they totaled it but I'm glad they didn't. Car drives perfectly, no pulling or anything. If it was hit in the front, then I would have def got rid of it.

Yikes! $11,000+ is crazy for damages. Mine totaled up to about $9k but due the age and mileage of the vehicle, they considered it totaled. I was on the fence about totaling it out, because I was also worried about how it would drive afterward.
Glad it all worked out for you!

I know exactly where you're talking about. Now I see why that place looks so familiar. I used to live in Ronkonkoma, and my mother and brother still do. Also be careful of the blind turn just north of the LIE on Patchogue-Holbrook road. My brother got into a bad accident there a few years back.

Yikes, I'm right around the corner from that turn too, I actually take it home daily from work. The whole area seems to be accident prone, I'm always seeing accidents on these roads.
Long Islanders need to learn how to drive (except for us TL drivers who clearly have that mastered).

Wow, was in the same boat a little over a month ago. This lady hit me going at least 50mph and totaled my old TL (an 04 Anthracite w/ 65k miles on it). Luckily, I was able to replace it with an 04 WDP A-Spec (even though it has 30k more miles...). I agree with previous poster, car shopping realllllllllllyyyyy sucks.

This saddens me, every time I see a post like this. I would beat the living s#$% out someone if they hit my baby.
Sorry for your loss Glad your okay.
TSX are not that bad, definitely a step down from TL. Same thing with ILX. Get another TL or TL-S.
Good Luck with your car search.

very sad indeed. i feel the same way about my car, putting love, care, and money into it. It sad to see this happen to these cars because with the 2004 being 10 years old now I really feel like im driving around a classic. People are always surprised to hear its 10 years old. Long live the 3G TL
