Rearlights with an arrow....
Rearlights with an arrow....
So when I bought my 08 type s, I was 90 percent sure that the rear indicator lights resembles an arrow when u click on you're turn signal... I've seen other tls like that and was sure my car also had an arrow looking light when turning or turning on you're blinker.. does anyone know what I'm talking about cuz my car doesnt have it and the blinker lights in the back are pretty lame looking compared to what I thougt they looked like
Yep, I've noticed it too on other TLs. I haven't specifically looked on mine (05 base), but I have LEDs in there so not sure. I suspect the designers did it on purpose by shaping the reflectors inside the rear blinkers / indicators. Subtle, but noticeable. Basically if you look closely at a TL in front of you with a blinker on, you may notice how the rear blinker red light may look like < or >.
Sorry, don't have pics handy.

Yup I know exactly what the OP is talking about. When viewed from straight behind and atleast a few car lengths away, the 3G TLs rear turn signals are shaped like an arrow. Best way to describe it is how some SUVs have the red LED arrow indicators in the side mirrors, well the 3G rear signals are similar shape when viewed directly behind. < > Like someone said above, that's basically what they look like.

That's exactly what I'm talking about the < > looking indicator lights... R u saying all of em look like this cuz I thought mine did but then recently it didn't look like it.. maybe looking at em an angle or from far away.. or are they specific lights that only some 3gs have?
I don't know what you mean, what would be wrong with zubi's? I thought he was just pointing out how the lights reflector make the appearance of an arrow when illuminated.
"i'm disappointed in the way mine looks, it looks lame"
"my tail lights are not < >"
Well all 3G taillight lenses are identical, so the only way output could be different is if he is using some other type of bulb. Also, like I said the arrow effect is really only obvious from pretty far behind the car. Probably atleast 3 car lengths.
To the OP, turn your signal on and go take a walk far back and see how they look.

This is the best video I can find ( didnt really feel like searching).
When you turn on your trun signals; they resemble arrow like figures.
OP is stated that his doesnt. Justin has ask him to post vid so we can get a better clarification.

I bet he has USR smoked tails...the reflector in them is smoked, so no chrome. When the bulb lights up you literally just see the bulb flashing, not the whole arrow shaped reflector lighting up.
Justin, UOENO?

Yes, my tail lights are smoked so the < > are not as apparent like regular tail lights. Anyways, it's kind of weird how you can't see the < > from up close and only from far away. I guess its the aesthetic design of the tail lights that make it appear like an < > from a little farther away.

zubis rhymes with my favorite things.
They're smoked tail lights? Is there NO red in them? If so, you have the smoked USR Depo tails and I can assure you from experience that the signal area doesn't refract the light very well in those.
