Question downhill automatic downshifting

Got my 08 TLwNav 2 months ago. Everything is perfect, but one thing. When I drive downhill, TL automaticaly downshifts, keeping RPMs high, so I don't need to break. Is this normal?
Also, somebody was telling me that the engine might cut off the gas while driving down the hill. Any comments?

Who outside this forum has answers to questions like these? My dealer is definitely not the place.

Read your Owners Manual. That's where the answers are.

The downhill, downshift thing is called Grade Logic Control. The car senses the pitch/angle of the slope and will automatically change gears. In downhill, in downshifts to help keep you from having to ride the brake to maintain speed.

Here's another one. During cornering, the car senses the yaw rate and, if possible, will postpone or delay a shift mid-corner. This is to help insure stability through the corner.

What manual?
I just searched 2008 TL Owner's Manual pdf, downloaded from the Owner's link web site and only logic mentioned there is the Dolby ProLogic.

Mine doesn't downshift all the time during downhilll, it only does that sometimes. Almost as if only when it feels like downshifting, it will.

If you let off the gas when going down hill and the car is at a speed where dropping a gear won't break something the transmission should drop a gear and use the engine as a brake . Or maybe it only does it while you're braking? I dunno I have a 6 speed..

You don't have an Owners Manual? In book form? That's f'd up.

Page 263 in the'08 Manual.

Acura calls it "Grade Logic Control" in their marketing. Check the "Grade Logic & Shift Hold Control" Link under Transmission:

my friend, maybe it's the parameters above or steepness of the grade. I was only explaining to the noob with the dancing desert magic man what I thought he was experiencing

You've gone and made your car so BadAss, maybe it's got an attitude about these things.
