Door Edge Guard

Has anyone installed the door edge guards by yourself? How easy was it?

Here is a link to a source. The price looks good. http://www.handa-accessories.com/tl.html

You can view the installation instructions here http://www.handa-accessories.com/tl/08P20.pdf

Thanks very much, Ron. I just ordered a set. One of the doors hit the concrete wall-I am shocked to know how the paint job is damage prone.

After you get them installed. let me know how hard it is to put on. Also, when the dealer installed my body side moldings, he put the front door molding even with the rear edge of the door, right at the very edge. Will this interfere with the door edge moldings, and do you think I will have to make the dealer move the moldings? Maybe some pictures, too. What color is your car?

Thanks, Ron

Uh, oh, Ron:

This is what the website says:

For maximum protection, Door Edge Trim can be used with Body Side Molding, if installed at the same time.

Once I install them, I will try to post some pictures. My car is Desert Mist/parchment/5AT/Vin#219xx.

I had the door edge moldings installed by the dealer at time of delivery. They have to go on before the body moldings because they determine where the body moldings will be positioned.

If you already have the body moldings installed they have to come off and be re-installed. A nasty thing that because removal will destroy the adhesive backing of the moldings.

Expect that the dealer will charge you to r&r the front door moldings if you want the door edge guards installed. It will be time consuming because they have to remove all the adhesive tape off the back of the molding and install new tape. It may actually be cheaper to buy new moldings for the front door if you really want the door edge guards.

I would expect the door molding are available individually per door.

Thanks, guys. That is what I figured would happen if I wanted to add the door edge guards. I don't think the dealer will do anything but I will ask. I read that part about putting the door moldings on before the body side moldings. I think if you buy the moldings individually for each front door they would cost more than the accessory package with all four. Probably I will just do without the door moldings, but I will wait until I see the pictures.
