Door Checker...

Is it just me or are the door checkers too weak for our heavy doors? Especially on an incline..

Just a suggestion to the Honda engineers

they are a bit underdone, my mom has sometimes problems getting out due to the door flinging back at her. The doors are pretty heavy, but i think the honda engineers did that so it would be less effort to close and also to make the car seem more safe and secure.

I actually kind of like them... I have delveloped this routine where when I get out of the car, I swing the door open and get out fast enough the the door closes itself right behind me

I concur, Pikabb. The doors are heavy and I like it. It gives me the feeling that I'll be safe and secure if ever I'll be in a mishap. I don't want to have a door that is lightweight and cheap which can cause problems later down the road.

I think everyone is actually on the same page here. Not looking for lighter doors--just an improved or recalibrated mechanism to keep the door from closing by itself. As mentioned, the downside would be the loss of the challenge to get my butt in the car before the door closes on me.

What is this door checker you speak of Ken? Is it the three or so detents that the door springs to when you open and close the door? I noticed it on my loaner TSX. If so, I can't stand them. I like my doors opening smoothly.

The one that always gets me is when I think it's open and start out, but then it decides to close a couple of seconds later...WHAP! My left foot/shin love it. It does come in handy when your hands are full, though, and you only have to give a slight tug on the door to close it. See, it's a "feature"...auto closing doors.

Don't reach back into the car to get your coffee out of the cup holder - the door will hit you in the ass.....LOL

It's true... I don't think I've had a single passenger who hasn't gotten hit in the butt or leg by the door closing on them (and then of course I have to hear them complain about it). I don't get hit because I'm used to how the doors work, but passengers definitely suffer.... on the other hand, I like not having to exert any effort to close the door. maybe acura should make the passenger doors harder to close for people who are used to regular car doors, and keep the driver door easy to close, so the owner can still take advantage of that without getting bumped or injured

I don't think they are weak but I sure with the rear ones didn't make the grinding noise they do. Any one else ? (And they are clean) and lubed).
