Does TL lock itself...?

I thought I read somewhere that the new TL will lock and alarm itself if you don't lock it within a specified period of time after getting out of the car.

Isn't that what they call a passive activation system?

Does anybody know this?

You set the locking time on the mid. There are many configurations which are in the manual. If you hit the lock button twice it arms the alarm immediately I think and beeps (which you can also configure).

Yeah, but can you set it to lock itself even if I forget to do it with the remote?

No. If you unlock the car, then don't get in within 15-30 seconds (set in the MID), the car relocks itself.

The TL does NOT have a passive alarm system...

It will ONLY re-lock if you unlock and do not open a door after x amount of seconds (settable in keyless memory settings).

For it to be considered passive, it will need to arm automatically when you exit the car (when you park and leave it).

I do not know why it does not have this feature... I would assume so you don't accidentlly lock your keys in the car (which could happen if you place them on a seat or something since most passive systems will not arm with the key in the ignition (even if in off position).

I wish it did have it.. my old car had it and I am afraid of leaving the car unlocked from force of habit.

Passive Activation means that it activates automatically when you lock the car. Active means that you operate it separately, like an add-on system.
