Question Does optional 18' rims require struts upgrade?

The following thread has sparked my question:

http://www.acura-tl.com/forum/showth...threadid=69164

So, I was hoping to fit OZ Operas 17x8 +37 offset with 235 rubber just fine based on Acura 18" wheels size BUT!!! after I asked dealer about optional 18" Acura wheels, he told me
that if I were to order these rims for my car, I would need to install some "special" struts in order to clear 18" wheels!

Can anybody with 18" Acura rims confirm this?

My car was delivered to a dealer today , but I still need to resolve the damn tire/rims issue before I pick it up

Thanks!

It sounds like he may be trying to sell you some extras that you don't need. I have not heard of any mods required to put the OEM 18's on.

I haven't heard of this either...in fact, I went to a pretty reputable shop around where I live and they can put on 19" w/no suspension work needed

Doubt it - But you may want to think about it when you get the car back with the 18" - may look a little high.

I got the A-Spec kit, which had the strut/spring upgrade - the springs make the car sit a tad lower, maybe a finger. But you dont HAVE to get it, just personal pref. i guess.

How much did the A-spec springs lower your car?

Hmmm, here's a pic of mine with the 18" wheels. I don't think it looks high.

Thanks for input

And no, I am not trying to get 18" wheels, so the dealer is not pushing any "strut upgrade" because of that. It just slipped into our conversation...

Instead, I am trying to get 17" OZ rims with +37mm offset, and gathering all possible info I may need to make a decision.
Here is the link to the original thread, please help if you can

OZ Opera IIPL Rims

Thanks everybody for your answers!

Got a VIN on SS/Quartz with Nav !

Excellent choice! I LOVE those rims and was thinking about getting those in the 18s or 19s size..not sure though. If you got them, I'd like to see some pictures!
