Although that looks pretty good, its not the way the side net is supposed to mount. The triangular part is supposed to be on top and sort of loose to allow for large objects to be positioned along the inside wall of the trunk and still be supported.

I don't have pictures, but I'll try to get around to taking one.

 

You mean like this? If so, I had trouble with stuff sliding forward in that gap in the front.

Hey Neuronbob, you gotta shake the sand out of that wetsuit before you toss it into the trunk. Seriously, the lifeguard called and said you need to bring back all that sand...it doesn't belong to you and its not free!

 

If only I lived close enough to a decent beach to wear a wetsuit. Beleve me, Edgewater Park in Cleveland just doesn't cut it. That mess is actually salt for the water softener. Just got back from Lowe's.

rzwill, your cargo net is located in the spare tire compartment. It comes standard with the car.

That's an old joke, please don't be offended. Yes, we're all here to help each other out. There's a terrific post here that gives the optimal way of installing these. Accuraddict is right, the triangle should be pointing upwards on the small net so that it can be used as a larger storage area. If you have a trunk tray and don't have navigational, the passenger side is the best spot because they'll be an open slot. The larger net appears to be aligned well.

 

Look under the trunk mat on the little bin that sits in the spare tire...

 

It seems that there is a zillion ways to install the small net. The pics of the driver side looks best for small items.

 

As you see in my pix, that's exactly what I do with it. I have a navi, and the DVD player is on the passenger's side, so the driver's side is the natural location. You don't have a navi, so the passenger's side should be ideal for you.

 

Yours looks like the way it should go in every model.

After playing around with the nets for a while, I came to a few conclusions that others may or may not agree with:

* There appear to be multiple ways to install the nets, and at least two or three configurations seem equally useful but different.

* Those of us who don't have the trunk tray might find one configuration more useful, those with a tray might find a different one more useful. Ditto for Navi vs. non-Navi.

* My (very intelligent) friends thought Rubik's cube was easier to solve.

* How or why our friends at Acura chose to design these nets as they did, perhaps with the intention of purposeful confusing and/or confounding us for their own enjoyment, will likely remain a mystery known only to those within the corporation.

 

I believe Skee's pics are closer to correct. The triangular part seems to have been made to fit the triangular opening towards the front if you mount the side net like Neuron has. In fact in that position the opening to the front is quite large. It seems to fit well like Skee has it (triangular cube fits triangular opening.) I believe Skee may have it twisted though hard to tell from the picture. Although who knows for sure. I guess whatever works for the individual is all that matters.

 

My triangle is a tangled mess (shown in my first pics) but it does keep stuff from sliding forward.

 

I thank it may be just twisted a little in your shot but your hookup is good. Mine looks like yours just untwisted.

This is how I chose to do mine. I've only had my TL for 6 days now and never bothered with the cargo nets. I tried the factory layout as defined in the book but didn't like it all that much. So it took me a few more minutes to figure out this layout.

It's not all that hard. It's not clearly defined in the book but you can figure it out quite easily if you bring the book with you when you setup the nets in the trunk.

Keep in mind that I have the Navi. And I didn't want to put any load onto the DVD drive on the right side so I put the smaller net on the left side instead.

There are many different ways to setup the nets. There's a few bad ways but many good ways. Just remember to consider how the items will move during acceleration/braking/turning. Make sure the nets are laid out in a manner that keeps the items inside the net areas.

 

Zeuser, I aggree with you 100% there are many ways to do it, none better than the other, it is all based on what you are looking to do.

I remember a few months back, no one could figure them out based on the mannual so we all depended on one anouther to help. Just glad I could.

 

How do the pegs come off that you attach the net to ? Do they unscrew? I don't want to cut a big hole in the trunk tray if I don't have to.

 

Yes, they unscrew. If they are tight, use pliers with tape on them or a cloth wrapped around the peg. You could unscrew them, punch a small hole in the trunk tray, and then screw them back in through the hole, but then if you needed to remove the tray you would have to remove all the pegs.

Also, keep track of which peg goes where because they have two different screw threads on them.

 

vdob: I think you are suppose to cut out the holes in the trunk tray, that's what I did anyway and it worked great. I figured that those round circles on the tray were meant to be cut out if need be. If they weren't, then why put them there? Maybe I was wrong but it looks and works for me.

 

Thanks guys. I guess it would make more sense to cut the holes out so that the spare is easily accessable.

It's amazing to see someone coming out an idea to setup/twist the long cargo net like that. It's new to me, and IMO looks pretty good, too. As need4spd said, in the early beginning, a whole bunch of ppl were trying to configure methods of braiding these damn cargonets. Good to see this thread could carry on and help ppl.

 

 

wow, I have my small net totally different than that - I guess mine is not like a bannana basket - it is more like a blocker for the stuff behind it.
