I have a laptop (Toshiba) w/ bluetooth, and a buddy has a PocketPC w/ the bluetooth built in. Can I theoretically use the bluetooth to interface with the TL in any other way b'sides using it to make phone calls?

i.e. can I play mp3's thru my laptop and pipe it into the TL's speakers via bluetooth?

 

don;t think so
it is not the bluetooth it is compatible with, but the hfl part of bluetooth
since lot os phones wont work it is reasonable to assume neither will other devices

 

Also, not all bluetooth phones would work with 04TL. Without HFL feature, these cellualrs with BT ain't working.

 

ya i thought my iPaq 5555 would work coz it has BT and i wanted it to access my contacts so i can use the navi to give me directions by address but it doesn't. this is why i'm waiting on motorola's i6xx for Nextel. heard it should work plus it can store about 600 contacts. too bad it doesn't have the SD slot that will be on the i930

 

Acura's HandsFreeLink requires Bluetooth Hands Free Profile. What you have to understand is that it's not the "Bluetooth" part that makes this work. It's the "Hands Free Profile". Bluetooth is just the networking mechanism. Hands Free Profile is the protocol used to communicate over the Bluetooth network.

If you could re-program a device to use the Hands Free Profile, like a pocket PC, I don't see why you couldn't link it up to the TL's HFL. Hint hint to device driver programmers!!!!
