Does the '07 Type S have tranny issues

Looking to buy a 47k 2007 auto trans type S. The carfax is clean but it shows that the dealer flushed the tranny right before listing it for sale. Is this to fix a TSB or recall of some kind? I browsed the internet and came across many many people with issues concerning 3rd and 4th gears. Would this trans flush they performed fix it per some issue? And how is your car performing reliability wise? I have a 04 accord that is flawless besides it's terrible short life brakes.

not exactly sure why the dealer would have done that... maybe as a part of another service they were doing on the car??? does it show any other service being done at that time (i.e... oil change or brake fluid etc)

if you pick it up tho, i would end up draining the fluid and putting in a sythetic ATF like amsoil or redline... we have a whole thread on racing ATF... read up there...

here is the ATF thread. read through it, it should answer your questions.

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-performance-parts-modifications-112/racing-atf-764322/

the A/T is fine, but adding a synthetic ATF and getting the factory Z1 fluid out would be first on my list. it improves shift quality immensely. also replace the 3rd and 4th gear pressure swtiches at 50k intervals. both of these steps will help extend the life of your tranny.

welcome to the forum. search is your friend.

Should have mentioned it is CPO so i has the 12 month 12k bumper to bumper warranty. As well as the 100k powertrain. I'm still debating trading in my 05 A8 for this car. Just anything that breaks on my A8 is $$$! Although I just had the timing belt service and trans flushed on that which is equiv to $3k.

Guess I just need a nudge from members saying that they are problem free when owning their TL. I just don't want to pick it up and have to sink money into it just getting it future ready.

i bought a 07 tl type-s w/ 34k on the clock. i absolutely love everything about it. it is my favorite car to date, a blast to drive and is an all around beautiful car.

advice? get a known mechanic to check out the car and make sure everything is as it should be. make sure all body panels have a matching VIN number. take it for a test drive on city streets and highway, see how it feels to you. address any and all concerns with the dealer before you sign anything.

that said, GO BUY YOURS!

Took it for a test drive everything was real smooth and nice. The interior and exterior were flawless and the seats look like no one sat in them. Only downturn I could notice is the extreme wheel jerk associated with the torque due to the FWD. But the power is great and it would be a nice change from my A8. The A8 is a beast and can take abuse but I always have the small feeling to baby it so something doesn't break on it lol.

the leather looks a little funny in some of those pics, and the floor mats...both minor stuff tho and could just be bad pictures. all in all, it looks nice tho!

you can probably do better on that price. i got mine for $24k out the door and it had less miles. don't fall into the "internet pricing" hype...there is still and always will be room to wiggle.

were getting to the end of the month, dealerships want to meet quotas around this time, so they should budge on the price if you haggle accordingly. be prepared to walk away if you cant agree on a OTD price. there are plenty of NBP type-s' out there.

There has been a recent case I know of someone with a Type S getting the flashing D and jerking trans. Only one I have heard of though...it should be in the problems and solutions forum.

even if a few type s automatics have tranny problems ... on the whole i think they are much more reliable because they have been adapted from the rl

HAHA!! This is one of my favorite lines EVER..."Oh no sir we cannot go any lower...this is our Internet Price...we're barely making any money at this price point"

What do they expect?? "Okay...I tried...I'll pay sticker price"....

Well after it was all said and done i went to take another look at the car. The black paint had way too many small dings and scratches for him to mark the car as in "excellent condition" and although FM and XM radio didn't do the audio justice the sound system was no where near amazing as I've heard by many people. Although I am comparing it to my A8 I found no single advantage besides the cost of ownership. Although some of these cons could be particular to this exact car:
-Needed an alignment or something, was quite shaky
-Way to many cosmetic marks, shows up much more on a black car
-For 21k I want the car to be pristine and although it is fast the initial torque steer was unacceptable

Pro's:
-Cost of ownership
-Honda Reliability
-Cool factor

So when it's all said and done with them shooting me in the back on a trade-in value, and them listing the car @ that price it was a no brainer to walk away. Sorry I couldn't join the club guys maybe in the future! The A8 spoiled me too much to give up!

before you knock the ELS system, know that to take full advantage of the 5.1 surround you must use a DVD audio disc. The XM quality is terrible. No way around it. CD quality is good and iPod quality is good as well.

Agreed, as i said in my previous post. Although I had them insert the demo DVD that they had on hand as a dealer copy and it sounded good, but the bass seemed missing.

isn't the demo disc Steely Dan or something? Well, with 5.1 surround your not gonna get that booming bass, if that's what your after you might as well go aftermarket.
