Do you guys break in your speakers??

I wonder if you guys "warm up" your speakers before blasting them? Do you take it easy on the speakers for a few hours before you turn it up? I always "warm up"my speakers for all my new cars......

the loudest i've gone is 30 on the volume. i usually don't "warm them up" it's just if i feel like turning up my music as i leave the driveway or when i'm on the freeway. i usually have it on 20 or 22 also depends on what's playing

I warming up, I mean break in, like you would break in the engine and go easy for the first 600 miles. Should I break in my speakers and go easy for the first few hours?

Nah, just blast them. Helps loosen up the surrounds.

35 is right at the point of starting to clip/compress for me.

i usually have it at 30 when i'm listening to music that is burnt. they aren't as good quality as original that's why i have it that high. as far as other people hearing it, dunno coz i'm inside my car lol. i really get into it when i'm driving. this car has made driving a hobby for. my commute to work is usually about 2.5 hours a day and since i got my TL, it's fun and exciting. i'm probly the only one enjoy rush hour traffic - dancing and singing in my car - unless there's another TL owner nearby

I dunno about a break-in period, but I don't turn on the stereo if the inside of the car is too hot or too cold. I wait for the interior temperature to become comfortable first. I have read often that extreme cold or heat can damage the moving parts of the speakers if used under those conditions. Could be BS for all I know, but waiting 5-10 minutes for tunes doesn't bother me.

my frined told me i should warm up the speakers before blasting. so i just blast it. i dont think there is a difference. its only electronics and the max is made so the speaker wont blow i think.

LOL i can relate....
i pick up my fiance once in a while and it's like an hour to an hour 30 min drive with the traffic from cerritos to santa monica(HATE THE :piss2: 405) then back...and i usually find myself just blasting the radio (VOL at around 25-30) and just singing or dancing...i don't even care if other people see me(i have no tint)...sometimes i see them looking and the more i get into it... ....i just feel like i'm in another world when i have all the windows rolled up...al i here is the GREAT soundsystem, all i smell is the new car smell, all i see is the parchment interior(except when i look up i see the other cars!).....

The speakers are designed to take the highest volume setting so they shouldnt be damaged. I did "break in" my speakers by playing music at 1/2 max volume - I have heard horror stories that people blow out speakers because they are stiff from factory. Could be a myth, but why test it? I say just do it for a day and then go as loud as you want.

No joke, most high end speakers need some "warm up/break in" time.....just curious, that's all!!

Volume level needed seems to depend on the source material. So far FM radio seems to need the least boost, then CD/DVD (but that's dependent upon the individual mix), and I find I need to crank it more for XM than anything else!

True, good speakers need to be warmed up. Not sure if that counts for a car system.

I broke my speakers in for a total of about 10 driving hours (no extreme volumes like 30). The owner's manual doesn't specify whether breakin is necessary for the speakers, however. Moodie and dcarlin are absolutely correct: good speakers require a gentle breakin of 50-100 hours for best functionality. I recently broke in a set of Onix Rockets for my home...100 of the antsiest hours I've ever spent!

Considering how high some of you are turning it up to, I guess you could say I was much easier on mine :lol2:

Cool

I've already blasted my system up to 40 a few times while playing some sick techno beats to see how it sounds and the sound has been amazingly crystal clear, too bad it's still too cold out in NYC to drive with the windows open. Once warm weather arrives and my windows are open you can be sure those driving near me will be in envy over my sound system, though I won't be playing it much higher than 30 or so.

You should play pink noise through your speakers for several hours to properly break them in.

You can also play Pink Floyd through your speakers for several hours. It may not properly break them in, but you will enjoy it.

I cranked up Missy Elliot's song on the demo disk to 27, and let my kids bounce up and down in the seats. That way I broke in both the speakers and the seat leather at once!

When I first picked up my TL about three weeks and 1000 miles ago I was very disappointed with the sound system. After reading all of the great reviews I could not believe how flat it sounded. The high's and low's were just not there. The CD sounded a little better but the XM and FM were aweful. I was actually looking for speakers and an amp. Then about two weeks went by and it all of a sudden it started sounding great!

I mean I put in the Linkin Park DVDA it is probably the best car sterio I have ever heard. Track two on this DVDA is a great demo for what this system and the 5.1 technology can do.

If you would have told me last month that speakers need to be broken in I would have laughed at you.....
