Yes, that happened to me in the TL even with the fogs off. There are a lot of "older" people in my neighborhood who are simply unaccustomed to HIDs and assume I ran the TL with the high beams on. It didn't help that the entry road into my neighborhood is hilly, and that the TL's HIDs have a very sharp cutoff.

i get flashed by everyone when i drive, then when i acutally turn on the highs, they stop for a bit. Also if we could have the fogs and Highs running at the same time, that would show people that the lows are not the worst.

Yep. Especially when I use my fogs, which I do most of the time since the area in which I live has a fair share of 4-legged critters running around - as in deer and such.

Usually around springbreak time. Group of girls pull up, compliment the car and whip em out.

I'm just posting what I thought this topic was about from the title.

haha... this happened to me the other day (it happens alot) but this car high beamed me from like a block away. So I turned my highs on a) to show that now my highs were on and b) to piss them off.

having bi-xenons are fun.

The TL HID doesn't need a damn thing, lol why are we so different from the audi or BMW drivers with the HID...the people who flash us (females doing a different kind of flashing are exempt from this[no offense to any females in the forum]) just need to get with the times and get accustomed to new technology

its funny how our cars are....I get more of the girl friends complimenting and such than the guys. Most of my guy friends are a little jealous, they kinda have that "my car is better" attitude even tho their cars are of the "teenager" type.

Hahaha, if only some of us could be that lucky *not pointing any fingers* But yea I was messing around with the fog lights (I never drive with them on) and someone started flashing me on the other side of the road so I turned on the real high beams - they stopped flashing me

I got flashed by another TL on Sat. night. Went on a trip to SC this spring and got flashed pretty much the whole way down. Even got pulled over in Balt. City for driving w/ my high beams on. Showed the cop he was wrong but told me to get the lights re-aimed. Can't say I did that, but it 10 min. of my life I am not getting back.

I've gotten flashed maybe once since I bought the TL. A quick flash back at the other driver let him/her know that my high beams were not on.

But then again, that other driver could have been flashing me for some other reason (road hazard ahead, cop ahead, etc.).

Yea, those arent even real xenons. Our cars have bi-xenons meaning when you flip the high beams on (youll notice a shutter sound when you flip them on if youre paying attention) there is a shutter that is lifted and exposes what true xenons look for. Real xenons are far too bright to be driving with and our lights are extremely bright.

Almost never happens to me in the DC area where I live. There are enough cars in this area that have the HIDs such that people are used to them. When I go out of the area, though, it happens occasionally, especially on rural back roads where it is very dark (I use a lot of two-lane roads when I go to Charlottesville for football). I just quickly pull the high-beam switch towards me and hold it for a second to give a flash of what my high-beams REALLY look like.

I get flashed whenever I have the fog lights on. As it seems that most people think I have both High Beem and Low Beem on...

I guess our HID is really that bright..

All you have to do to get a real appreciation for the TL's lights is to drive a car that doesn't have HIDs. I was in Mexico last week and the rental car was a convertible VW Beetle....and I mean the old type of VW Beetle, the air-cooled type. The headlights on that thing bordered on worthless!

That's against the law. At least in TX.

You aren't supposed to use highs in foggy weather so you shouldn't ever need highs and fogs simultaneously.

I have been flashed twice in 25,000 miles. One flick of the lever convinces the other driver that I was not driving with the high beams on. Boy, the intensity of the high beams is devastating.

I have never used my fog lights in two and a half years, even when it was foggy. As for being flashed, I've only been flashed once...I promptly showed the person what a real high beam was (rarely use those - maybe a few times a year - now that I think about it).

Thats funny this thread came about today. I was just thinking about how annoying this is! Last night I drove over the Ortega Hwy (FUN drive for those of you that know it) I got flashed probably 8 or 10 times in the 20 minutes it takes to go across! Also get flashed on occation driving around town...sounds funny to write

I have a TSX and its happened to me once, but I had an 04 Nissan Maxima and people flashed me all the time. It was mostly people with older cars and no HID's that dont realize that they are supposed to be bright.

the lights on our 3rd Gen TL is what caught my interest on wanting this car so much. I jus love how when we first open our lights(@ night time) it's kinda purp-lish.. omg, i wish it stays that way. =)

Slight thread hijack - Let's discuss white-balance. "White-balance" is a photography term meaning that white light is not always pure white. The photograph needs to be adjusted to artifically show "white colors" as pure white. Because most light sources are Not pure white, white objects in photographs do not appear pure white (unless the white-balance has been adjusted).

Guess what... our eyes are the same way. Ours brains will correct for off-white light sources. Of course, this is within reason... a solid green light will still appear as solid green. We are discussing tinted lights that are off-white. This occurs often with flashlight usage also. The flashlight, car headlight, house light, etc will *first* appear to be tinted (not pure white light). But, minutes later our brains will adjust to the off-coloration and we will then *percieve* this same light to now be "white". To other people whoose eyes have not yet adjusted, they percieve this light as being tinted too (at least until their brains adjust the white-balance like your brain did).

Having a loaded car (many passengers and/or heavy luggage) will lower the rear and cause the lights to point upward. Now, the TL's low-beam cutoff is above everyone's line-of-sight.

Yeah, I've gotten that.

It makes me wish I'd waited for the '07s with their DRLs, so I could be visible without people thinking my HIDs are too bright. Meanwhile, in the low mode, they're still somewhat less visible because DRLs often aim up like Hi-Beams (at lower power), while low beams try not to blind the other motorists.

Then again, I'd need to wait till '09 to get the end-of-model year discounts (like the old '06s have). And then I'd be jealous of the 4G TLs with AWD and not wanting to pay $40K etc. So bottom line... I'm running my HIDs a lot and thinking about those DRL kits, esp for these October days when the sky is dark.

Btw... there was one time my Hi_beams were on!

Maybe the lights are set too high. I have a TSX and had the same problem with one of my headlights. There is a place in the TSX to adjust the tilt of the lights with a screwdriver. Not sure, but the TLs should also have this feature.

I get flashed all the time especially with my fog lights on. They flash me like half a mile away and I flash them back to let them know my high beams are not on.

I have been flashed once. This is one thing I do miss about the Evo. I never got flashed since, if I do carry extra cargo out the back, there is a switch in the cockpit that can lower the aim of the HIDs automatically (between 0-3, 0 being level, 3 being aimed down at the ground) on the fly.

the flip side though is I love the bixenon on the TL.
