Not gonna ask what you were doing going twice the speed limit...not gonna ask...
But most likely, your tire kicked up a small rock or something. At that speed, it naturally did some damage. get a new splash guard and slow down.

I completely skipped over that part, to the OP, don't do triple digit speeds on public roads, I couldn't care less if you lost your life for such a stupid thing, but it's the lives of the other innocent people that matter in that situation. Also isn't the limit on the NJ turnpike 55? Doing over double the limit is a big no no, anywhere...

The DVD-A Script Guy
Going out on a limb here but I don't think that wire harness hanging down and the box with the blue/red wires is stock. Just about everything Acura puts in the car for harnessing is tethered pretty good. So my money is on the last guy that just stuffed all that crap back up in there probably didn't secure it well. Or secured it as well as the BS job they did on the harness. Probably the same guy that would do 115 on the NJTP.

My thoughts are with everyone else. Honestly, why do you have to be 19 too.. You make all of us young drivers look bad, along with adding to stereotypes.

if the lower panel was ever removed it likely was not put back together right.
Losing 1 or 2 of the 5? small plastic push pin clips that hold it together in front,,
would leave it ready to depart at high speeds. Seen it happen on other cars before.
OP may consider adding some Gorilla tape to the leading edge once its on.
That will keep air from getting between the surfaces and ripping off another piece.
Track dayers may want to inspect and tape that up too!
Lets assume he was actually on the racetrack at track day, but the freeway made it sound much cooler for the purpose of telling the story to his same age friends~
and was it really 115 mph or Kph...about 80 real miles per hour
Remember- any good story contains no more than 10% fact/truth
substantiated by 90% FICTION
Note that 100 mph is pretty much the standard for mandatory arrest in a 55, even a 65 or 70 freeway- 100 is too fast in the courts mind,,,they want to see you in person for a safety chat~
Double speed limit anywhere and expect big problems
But- this is azine so lets Work the problem of the thread, rather than squeeze the nut behind the wheel

can I once again beg everyone to attend a track day class at your local racetrack!!
Please- it will save your life when someone pulls the ultimate idiot move right in front of you- do you turn brake gas pitch it sideways or what???
how do you react--whats your current driving programming from?--the art teacher from high school making extra money?? (that was my actual driver ed teacher at high school drivers ed) what a specially trained driver instructor that was lol
at the track, you dont have to go faster than 60 on the straight if you dont want to, but you can go as fast as the car will go
Everyone in the noob group approaches the corners slowly,,,each time building confidence and feel for the car.
You wont wear out the tires or brakes on a 1st time.
About 200-300 dollars in most places with an instructor riding as your passenger/coach
well worth every penny for all ages and backgrounds- we all have some bad habits
Younger members- while we may scold on speeding on public roads- its because we all did it back when there was a hundredth of the traffic today,,,things were different- cars were much slower...it was insane then and we were lucky to survive,,,just like our parents did crazy stuff in their cars as kids too
Thinking back at some early years of driving,,close calls,,,and how Mom would have felt if the road
won~ If she dies going 115 and flips the vette- ok- thats cool!!-
but any of the kids--especialy at that empty nest age in their teens --it will kill her from the loss
That makes me encourage younger drivers to be cool on the roads please- there are options now with the tracks that we never had to go safely and legally!
Drags or road race- there is a better place to do it
The TL you can be on cruise control at 65- take off cruise and use manual gas pedal,,,then suddenly its going 80 with no effort, then 110----
without looking at the speedo you would not know
Anyone can push a gas pedal down and go fast- the trick is making the corners

everyone has gone over 100 during their teen yrs. when ur young, you just want to go fast without thinking properly. i can see why insurance companies tend to have high rates for those under 25 yrs of age.

Forget the State Trooper... How about lucky you didnt hit a minivan full of children or any number of awful things that couldve happened.
Everyone is making comments about this not being drivers ed, but I had a friend killed 2 weeks ago buy some douchebag like you. He was driving the speed limit and was rear ended by some ass face doing 100 that couldnt stop in time.

you guys stop bashing the op for going over 100 mph, its obvious that he's just someone else who takes everything for granted, including his life, and isn't going to listen to a word anyone says on here.

OP didn't mention what time it was or if there was any traffic. Maybe he WAS going too fast, but if he felt there was no danger to anyone else, then driving the TL @ 100+ is VERY easy. Like another poster said, just ease into the skinny pedal and you're over 100 w/o knowing it. Not condoning the action, but I know with the windows sealed up and a smooth, open road, it's smetimes hard to not air it out a bit. Yeah, I got a 100mph in a 70mph zone before I even got the permanent tags on my TL. Had to show up for court and then attend a Saturday defensive driving class. I was the only one over 20yrs old.
Sorry, OP, Slow down. Things tend to come off vionently at high speeds and can cause lots of damage or worse, distract you and cause you to cause lots of damage. Air pressure can rip stuff apart.

Can't wait till the day I turn 20 and my insurance starts to go down
i'm in oakville and i pay 144 for full coverage + no deductable + waived first at fault accident etc etc.
my friend who just started driving at 24... is paying 300 a month in toronto.
the one thing is... in the US, you guys have state troopers, from my magical journeys into the land of movie stars and fox news, i've seen state troopers pretty much under EVER over pass i've driven under... i've been to pennsyvania, oregon, maine, illinois, ohio, michigan, but they don't seem to stop this guy going 2x the limit... maybe things are different in jersey.

Not defending OP in any which way but driving triple digits on the NJTP and on a local street are two very different situations and are not really comparable. That area is full of stop lights, pedestrians, residential houses, etc. OP is still a douche for doing it nonetheless.
