I'm assuming they are illegal and won't pass inspection (NJ) but do cops really bother with them on? I'm thinking of buying them from batmobile after I get my car inspected next week.

Light tint? Not likely.

Darker tint, yes. A few of my buddies have gotten pulled over for dark tails.

Light or dark, it's illegal. My cop friends down here tell me that FHP guns for cars with tinted tails on the highway.

The one thing I can say about the TL concerning tinted tails is that the brake lights are so damn bright that at night you cant really tell that they're tinted unless its pretty dark.

*knocks on wood* I have never been asked about mine, Ive been through 3 state inspections.

I has to be illegal and what if you get rear ended? Normally it would be the fault of the person that hit you but I would imagine if they claim they couldn't see your tails, you are screwed.

That being said, the TL tails are bright but still...

I had blacked out ones before and now I have lightly tinted ones now.

Lets just say the blacked out tails got me into ALOT of trouble.

Now that I look at it the tinted ones look better anyways.

im trying to decide if I want to black out my tails or clear them out, from what i've heard as long as the brake lights show then I should be fine.

not sure what illinois state law specificly says, however.

i almost rear ended a random guy with really dark tails once. it was pretty annoying. i'm sure they're fine at night but i couldn't really see his lights in the sun.

By dark are you referring to the 6/10 tint (= to 20% tint) and light being the 3/10 tint (= to 60% tint) on batmobile's site?

here in nc i havent had any problems here. if a cop is behind me,i signal or brake so they can see that my lights shine through.

Same here. I've been pulled before, but not because of my smoked tails, and they didn't say a word about them. Mine aren't pitch black though.
