HAHA, I did once when I was like 16, and then regretted it, because of the amount of bubbles that formed. And that was on a truck so there were no curved surfaces either

I think the 180 which I spent on my TL is well worth it, too bad no warranty cuz i went illegal on the percentage. But oh well

What??? unless you mean some warranty to replace it if you are ticketed??
the warranty should have nothing to do with if you went with a legal % tint.
the warranty should be on the installation and the performance of the film.

I was thinking about tinting my own windows too. But i read that if u mess up the tint on the rear windsheild. It would be hard to remove and not mess up the defrost line and stuff.

So..im still thinking about it.

well the fitment is easy, but you will still want to use a heat gun to curve the film while it is on the outside of the glass. use spray fabric softner and let it dry on the glass to keep the film adhered to the glass for this process, soapy water will not hold the film and will let the film just slide around all over. It will also take two people minimum to handle the material properly and to not crease it.

Really considering that half the cost of the great tint job is for a quality film, and it may be difficult to obtain good film precut since the market for that film is bargain hunters. I would advise that you give your money to a professional that has the skills, proper tools and a dust free environment to be able to achieve a proper install. Although I am the first one to try to DIY and love to have that feeling that I did it myself, you have to remember that you are working on something that is transparent and any mistakes, fingerprints, creases or scratches will be obvious
and you will be looking through them everyday. Besides your talking about a 30K+ vehicle, and a poor tint job will make it look like 20K in a heartbeat.

Well the idea for soapy water is to use it to slide the tint into the correct position.

Yes that is for when you are actually applying it to the interior glass, not when you are sizing it to fit the window which is done from the exterior. It is also to allow the air bubles to be squeegied out and the squeegie to glide across the film

I'd rather give myself my own coronary bypass.

At least there'd be a better chance of success.
