disable factory alarm disarming on key turn
Does anyone know how to disable the functionality where unlocking the door deactivates/disarms the factory alarm?
(Does everyone know what I mean?)

Ok you guys have no idea what I'm talking about.
I dont want to disable the factory alarm.
I want to stop the alarm from disarming simply by turning the key in the door. Instead, I want the alarm to only be able to be disabled by pressing the unlock on the fob.
Since the alarm is disabled by simply turning the key in the door, any thief who can pick a lock can get into your car. And since the acura key is so simple, it only takes a few seconds to open your doors.
Does this make sense?

Hi gyrus,
I've done tons of work on the innards of the car. I've already installed two remote starter/alarms on my car (didn't like the first one) so I know how it works. There is a way to do this, but it will also mean that the factory alarm won't arm/disarm if you physically move the lock plunger on the driver's door. If that's ok with you, you can open up the door panel and cut the two wires leading from the door plunger/keyhole to the security box located under the power window switches in the door panel. I don't remember what color these two wires are (it's in the electrical manual which is at home), but you can pulse them with a ground pulse and one will lock the doors and arm the alarm, the other will unlock the doors and disarm the alarm. Something fun to try is pulsing then removing the ground and putting it back and holding. The windows will either roll up or roll down. These are the wires I tapped into to get window/sunroof control from my alarm system.
Anyway, that's pretty much the only way to do it. The car's security system is all located in the door which is a pain in the butt, but it's true. You might want to hide a dipole switch on the door panel somewhere so you can turn your "hack" on and off. Just make it hidden enough for would-be thieves not to find it.
Good luck with your mod!

Sweet. That's exactly what I wanted to hear. Thanks for your help; I'll probably need more information. I'll see what I can figure out.
A few questions to clarify my lack of experience:
1) When you say "pulse them with a ground pulse", do you mean briefly connect with ground?
2) When you say "pulsing then removing the ground and putting it back and holding", do you mean briefly connect with ground (and let go), and connect with ground again and keeping it connected with ground?
thanks buddy

Hey gyrus,
Yes to both your questions. You could try that just for fun. But it'll also help you identify the wires. SilverUA5's idea is a good one though. Lots of us have done the door lock mod so you don't actually see the keyhole anymore. It's still there of course, but it's covered under the handle cover. That is definitely a deterrent, but it doesn't stop them from popping off the cover and sticking a screwdriver in there.
Good luck!

Yeah I did the cover the keyhole thing already. Got the part for 15$ at the dealer (the special order took 4 busines days to arrive). Too easy to do, hence I feel like it's not much of a deterrant at all. But it sure looks great! I don't have to worry about cleaning the keyhole when I wash my car since white collects all sorts of black nasty goo in the hole.
anyways I'll try opening the door panel and checking it out.
