just a FYI something like 85% of all car batteries are made by the same 3 companies. so for the most part the sticker on the battery (brand) means nothing.

I know it, and I can see that now. It definitely seems like an oligopoly.

I've never actually had to purchase a new battery before. I've been fortunate enough to have batteries last the span of my vehicle ownership, around 4-5 years. It's always so crazy to see how much information is available on this website.

Sounds like it could either be a dead cell in the battery or something draining it like the HFL or a/c relay (2 common causes)

I disconnected the HFL a few years ago, so I can't imagine that's the issue. I haven't heard about the A/C relay causing issues though. That is something I'll have to research I guess?

Like I mentioned previously though, the battery didn't hold it's charge last night (after i disconnected both terminals). That makes me kind of think that the A/C relay wouldn't be the culprit?

I didn't read that you removed terminals whoops..

Yup sounds like a bad battery not holding a charge on its own. Time for a new one!

Lol, no worries! I appreciate the input.

It seems to be a pretty easy diagnosis, but 'll check the charge again when I get home from work to confirm.

Wusty, you do know that most any auto parts store (and WallyWorld) will test your battery and charging system for free?

I'm 99% positive that my battery is toast. It doesn't hold a charge to save it's life, but bringing it in might not be a terrible option just to be sure.

I went to the Home Depot by my house and there was only one 24f Excide battery. It was very dusty and the shipping sticker was dated 2/2018. That's a looooong shelf life.
